They've got cash as well they will go nuclear with this and try and find any wrongdoing by any team last season the championship, no chance they just accept it. This is a huge call from the EFL.

They are appealing the punishment as being disproportionate to the offence.


Hope they get a worse punishment.

It's clearly a case of systematic cheating. In places like Italy they would be relegated.

Just the once you feel it’s a points deduction. They’ve admitted all 3, so it could he argued it should be a 9pt deduction that would take them out the playoffs anyway.

Yes. But your 9 point deduction would mean Southampton having to now play Millwall over two legs and Hull having beaten Millwall, now to playing two legs against Boro. Completely unfair on Hull and the play offs would still be going on in June.

9 points wouldn't take them out of the play offs as they would be level on points with Wrexham but with a far superior goal difference.

The whole thing is a complete and utter shitshow.

That was my thoughts. Genuinely thought there'd be a massive fine and points deduction. This is definitely the toughest of the possible sanctions considering what was at stake, the sheer logistics of changing the opposition in a match involving 90,000 fans that involves hundreds of miles if travel just 4 days beforehand.

Indeed, why would they spy on Oxford, and us, but not on any of the teams involved in games between those matches? It's likely not possible to prove, but I'm pretty confident it's been systemic since Eckert took over!

I read that the playoffs are effectively a separate competition under efl rules so a points deduction can’t apply as no points are at stake.
