Harry Winks 13:27 - Jun 7 with 3632 viewsNutkins_Return

People who shoot down the suggestion based on last season but as one of say 5 CM he could be a good acquisition. I do think we will need more pace and power for the other signings but Winks will cost next to nothing (maybe in the £2-3 mil range) and brings a cool head and a lot of experience.

McKenna was his coach at youth level and was looking at him and the main thing that went wrong Was the fallout from his confrontation with fans. His underlying stats were decent and his ball retention excellent. Keeps things ticking from defence to attack. Very comfortable on the ball and collecting the ball from the back which we have struggled with recently.

Good player. Not the 'beast node' type midfielder we will need as well but essentially a better Dan Neil with loads of prem experience.

A bad egg per my Leicester supporting mates.

He’s been out of the team under a number of managers for that reason

On £80k a week too

I think he's regressed massively. Regardless of what he's like as a bloke and if he deserved the abuse he got from Leicester fans (probably not) he's one of we didn't go up.

The other ones worth a look of course are J James, Fatawu and Monga for me.

They didn't all be one bad players because of the relegation and I think Leicester was toxic.

James being a Championship relegation expert is concerning but also played with Matusiwa before and seemed their stand out.

Monga is off to Arsenal I believe. James is a great player and I wished we'd got him this season.

Not sure we need to be scraping for bargains just yet, I'd hope we'd be laying serious money down if we are looking to stay up

Nutkins, you spent all last season bigging up Jens Cajuste and telling us how good he was.
You're probably really good at critiquing defenders and strikers, but maybe your Schemer Radar has been misaligned.

Did I?

I'm pretty confident I didn't. I definitely thought he had been been effective off the bench in a number of games and would have liked to see a bit more of him at times. But he ultimately did not match his talent and was a disappointing season.

Whilst I am not convinced he would be a good signing, how many matches has Winks played in League 1? Of course, technically by being at Leicester he is now a League 1 player. However, would you describe Jared Bowen as a Championship player?

Harry Winks? You have to be joking. On top of the reported £10m fee, Leicester have been hosing up the wall a rumoured £80k a week (£8.3m for two years) on a bloke who has been stealing a living.

If he was paid £8k a month it’d be wasted money. Apparently he had a good old spat Leicester supporters and dished out the verbals to a fan outside. Lovely.

Leicester still have a good old dollop of parachute money so they can afford to spend it on 30 year old Winks’ salary. You never know, he might make the effort for the odd game.

Somebody will be nuts enough to buy him. I just hope it isn’t us.

A no from me then.

Definitely not for me, however, the one Leicester game I saw live this season was that Millwall game and he was absolutely head and shoulders above anybody on the pitch in that game for me. Don't think he gave the ball away once.

No idea what's gone on there but to have that much talent and to have woefully underperformed to the extent he/they have it has to be a no for me.

You'd think they'd have a good old chunk of parachute money, but apparently they borrowed against it last year so effectively they have spaffed it up the wall already.

They only need £4m or so to pay Winks and I’m sure they’ll be able to find that in a piggy bank or under a mattress somewhere.

Leicester will be fine and compared to the resources of most in League One ought to be able to walk it, even if Winks spends 9 months on the Sun lounger counting his dough.

Harry Winks at one end of the "targets", McTominay at the other end.

Hopefully land somewhere in the middle

Watch a few of Leicester's games over the last two years where he is aimlessly wandering around the pitch and you'd have a clear explanation of why not.

Think Jonny Douglas v Newcastle every single game, and you've got Winks sewn up.

Indeed, my local Leicester supporting mate confirms that Winks was allowed to continue to live in Hertfordshire while playing at Leicester. His son (also a Leicester season ticket holder) has chatted to him in the Red Lion in Radlett & says he was a nice bloke. But not the sort of commitment Town will need next season.

They have already spent next years parachute payment and the transfer money for McAteer and others sold last season as well, borrowing the money from Macquarie the Aussie bank.

Don't be ridiculous. I'm fairly confident I'm reasonably qualified to know a good player ;)

What I don't do is base opinion on fan sentiment. Ever (unless it was something serious outside of football).

Some signings will need to be pragmatic and not bums off seats type signings.

I don't think I've ever had a strong multi downvote post before. Crikey! The people have spoken.
