Can you imagine the meltdown if we appointed a female coach/manager? .

Absolutely no reason why they couldn’t be successful of course. If anything they’d be more likely to be geared up to the challenge given women tend to brighter and more empathetically in tune, which is a huge part of managing people in a high pressure environment. One day we’ll look back on this time and wonder what all the fuss was about. I’m struggling to think of many places where women don’t get a look in these days, bar stuffy and archaic golf clubs and I think even most of them have had to change.

It's only ever on here from the same handful of posters that I ever hear about Farage.

I would argue Sarina Wiegman's cv is just as good and would be a safer bet if we wanted to go down that route.

Most will just silently dab the old disapproval button without actually popping their heads above the surface to misspell their outrage

Pretty decent haul of usual suspects already tbf…..

I would love to see a female manager of Ipswich!! Not even remotely for some sort of wokie tokenism, but because as the son of a female school headteacher, I know what amazing leaders women can be. Emma Hayes would be a wonderful appointment, and so would Sarina Wiegman. Both are genuinely elite coaches.

Ernie, that's a really, really awful comment. You shouldn't be saying things like that in this day and age, regardless of your opinions of her credentials to be a manager.

That’s not a serious suggestion is it? Emma Hayes is a superb coach and motivator but with no men’s Premier League experience, you wouldn’t drop her straight into a team which would be fighting for survival from day one.

She’d need to start in the Championship imo. But there is noting to suggest that she wouldn’t be a success and move on to better things. She has fantastic knowledge of the game and talks really well. I hope there is a chairman out there brave enough to give her a chance.

Not sure there was any need to drop another tedious reference to Farage in your post. It suggests you are trolling and trying to get a reaction from other posters rather than putting forward a serious case for Emma Hates managing our club.

i suspect it will come about by women starting to coach in the men's game within men's clubs and then progressing up the ladder in the normal way - the mckenna route, allbeit that he obviously played briefly first. it would be very brave, even at championship level, to bring in someone with no experience of the men's game.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Even supposing you're right, a brilliant manager with character is better than a brilliant manager with no character. Dishevelled brilliance worked well enough for Columbo.

If she's brilliant, she's brilliant. If she's not, she's not. All you can do is do your job brilliantly, and hope that's good enough to lead you to where you deserve to be. There aren't many people who would disagree with the proposition that she's been an excellent head coach and at the very least a good enough pundit.

Some people are concerned that the likes of Knutsen wouldn't translate to a different league. That's fair enough. It's similarly fair enough not to be sure how top coaches in women's football will translate. We won't know until we have some evidence. But like with any pioneers, someone's got to go for it first, and someone will, and then we'll see.

But either way, if she goes into men's football and isn't a success, it won't be because of her appearance or accent. I don't think she'll let heckling stop her from succeeding, but heckling about her appearance is far more likely to hold her back than her appearance.

Just because Sir Alf and Sir Bobby were hotties, it doesn't mean that all our managers have to be. Oh, they weren't? Hmm. It's almost as if that's not really relevant, isn't it?
