Ashton has gone turbo Brent GO will wear Reiss on the sidelines Bit geezerish but seems nice bloke. Needs to try to change the mates to buhs Staff in charge of new kit perhaps predictably call it 'stunning'

He'd cut 2 minutes from every press conference if he didn't feel the need to add the word "Football" in front of "Club". every single time.
He managed 3 in one sentence;- "I've worked tirelessly for this football club, to find the right man for this football club, to take this football club forward".
Yeah, we kind of assumed you weren't talking about Ipswich Cricket Club....
I wouldn’t beat him up too much for the language he uses. Everyone has different phrases and oft repeated words. As for dress sense, the haters would have criticised had he turned up in budgie smugglers, a DJ, Bermudas or an Indiana jones hat. Who cares what the bloke is wearing.
Yes his manner is quite funny or irritating but it’s really all about what gets done and about the club itself moving forward.
I’ve met people who talk in ‘office speak’ (bullsht bingo merchants) and it was always funny but not out loud. Some were good at their job, some awful.
For O’Neil first day or days in any new job Iis a tiring process. It’s important to get the balance right as first impressions count for an awful lot. The old rule of two ears one mouth - listen twice as much as you talk is never more relevant than a first day initial impressions.
When it comes down to it, it’ll be all about how well he does the job, but that’s for today and onwards. I wish him well.
As an aside, I looked again at McKenna’s farewell piece. I can’t help thinking now the dust has settled that it was the right time for him to move on for both his and the club’s sake.

Saying football before club does sound unnecessary at times, doesn't add anything to what is said but it's probably corporate speak. No harm saying it but I preferred it as it was. Sir Bobby's famous quote doesn't begin "what is a football club....."
Farewell Kieran Mckenna, our best manager of the post Evans era so far.

Went to watch this and you have to subscribe. I’m not paying to watch this stuff. There is nothing on Town tv worth watching. No games ,no nothing, the odd interview like this. No way do they get my money, the content is way to poor.

Not sure people pointing out that he is full Brent in that video is as serious as you are making it out.
But why endlessly point it out? He’s been like that for five years and won’t change now. You don’t have to work with him and those that do can always move on if they don’t like it.
Has he done his job, has he not? Does he have the confidence of the owners, who are the real power at the club, and the manager that works to him? The former it’d seem yes, the latter time will tell.
The proof is what you see in the video, the league table, games and in the ground.

Again, I don't think it's that serious. Just a bit of a fun.
It’s stressful to deliver on a day like that - but I thought he did well, and great his wife joined
Think there is a likability there that is coming through
Did strike me how impressive the new office complex is
Felt like a big club
Thought Ashton was professional
Good to see Stuart Watson given some praise, and Phil getting the airtime.
Just really hope we can get the fans behind this new project and crucially get a win against Sunderland - sense a poor start to the season could see things turn pretty quick
Again like his press conference I thought overall that was a positive impression on 06:54 - Jun 27 by unstableblue

I thought he and all at the club came across very professionally. We are a long way from the great fire of Playford Rd and poor old LON staggering around with a broom up his a£&# sweeping the floor.
However, let’s face it, given the hysterics on here last season over every poor moment let alone the Ashton witch-hunt now in full swing, O’Neil has about five minutes. Sunderland is a must win for him or he’s toast. Fortunately those in the football ground are by and large more patient, so joking aside he will get some time, maybe until Christmas. I hope so.
Agree regarding inside Portman Rd. Very impressive. The owners don’t do things by half! I’m a great believer in invest and give people the right environment and you’ll get so much more than it’ll cost you.

Can we really glean anything from this? It was pleasant and professional. There were cameras there and it's the first day. Everybody will be friendly and smiley. All words will be nice. Personally, I'd hate those kind of events. You're there to smile for the camera and your every word has to be positive and enthusiastic. And you're probably telling yourself not to f#ck up and say the wrong thing. Thankfully, Gary has a permanent smile.
I prefer it when the honeymoon period is over and everyone is acting more naturally.

AS much as the give him until Christmas thing is sensible, if we lose the first 5 games and/or really struggle then that could be enough to start the Ashton out chants, I mean GON out. Sorry Mark.

Interesting. O’Neil looked like a rabbit in the headlights. Just as you’d expect when seeing so much so quickly. He did the right thing - didn’t say too much beyond what he had to in interviews. He did fine.
The inside of PR looked amazing. So much effort, time and money to get it looking so good. It looks a nice environment to work in, even if black decor isn’t really my thing. Looking forward to see8ng pics of the new training centre.
Ashton was ok. Going out of his way to make the new man feel welcome, just as he should.. I know that people will use any angle to boot him, from dress sense to his accent to his Brentish phrases. Let’s face it, first goal that goes against us the usual suspects will be piling in calling for O’Neil’s head as away of getting at MA. Each to their own.
My goodness, this club has come a long way in five years.
