Continuing the lifelong tradition of going out on goal difference because they failed to put a minnow to the sword has certainly been a joy that we've been missing for the past 28 years.

The invention of the Scotch Egg and Irn Bru must be in up amongst the top 10 creations of all time
Scotch egg: fine. Haggis: fine. single malt whiskey: glorious. Billy Connolly: funny. Original Taggart: good, Glasgow curry’s: excellent. John Wark, George burley, Scot Duncan, Alan Brazil: legends. Tartan: mostly a Victorian creation but good for car rugs and biscuit tins.
Irn Bru, the Proclaimers, football, distorted view of history, climate, their misplaced sense of entitlement, SNP and the Krankies - bad. Sheltron: bad idea against trained opposition.

I would say the performances of Cape Verde are the biggest plus of this World Cup so far.
The fact that Scotland performed so miserably and finished 1 from last is the second biggest plus of this World Cup so far.
Ecuador's performances are the third biggest plus of this World Cup so far.
Messi showing the world why he is still the G.O.A.T is the forth biggest plus of this World Cup so far.
Need I go on?
Is that miserably? They were clearly the third best team in the group and finished third. Are they ranked significantly higher than any of the third place teams that have qualified for the next round?
It is also why their fans have been able to enjoy the experience. No expectations and neither over-achieved nor under-achieved.

I think I understand it. I’ve been in Brussels when the Welsh came to town and the atmosphere was very different to being in an England crowd (which is far from as bad as the press often make out btw, from my limited experience). I get a similar vibe from the Scots.
It’s strange how people get quite negative about the Scots. It doesn’t really matter if they had a good time, does it? It doesn’t impact us.
Indeed, if the team in not very good, what else is there to do but party?
And if it's another 28 years before Scotland qualify again, many there this time may not even be alive.
In some ways, and to a much lesser extent, it reminds me of the away days in the Premier League two seasons ago. I greatly enjoyed them all (including the pub before and singing in the ground) even though the results were abject.

Yes. Well done to the Scotch fans.
They have participated much better than the Scotch team.
I think they might have done better if they had switched roles! Mind you, from what we've seen of England thus far, I wouldn't be getting too boastful. Bang average at best. Some seem to think the team is better suited to playing the " the bigger " more expansive teams. Well it shouldn't be long before we find out, assuming we get past DRC First!

Who would say that? It's the most arrogant statement ever. As if the whole tournament is about them. They're a cr@p football nation. And then these pr1cks call us arrogant.
Please, f#ck off home quietly.

And let's not forget Scottish Presbyterianism which believes in the Calvinist doctrine of predestination for the chosen (or elect).
It's a bit arbitrary but hopefully one of my dad and mum ended up as the chosen.

The chosen? English, were they?
I always had you down as a Covenanter. The persecution of said Covs ended with the late 17c Glorious Revolution, of course.
Edit: as a matter of interest my knowledge is very limited but I do know that English / Scottish history is so intertwined over the centuries, it beggars belief. That’s why taking the p£ss over their rubbish football team is such fun. Mind you, England’s is pretty woeful. Oh well.
