I’ve said for a while that England should have used the friendly games leading upto the World Cup to play games at altitude, and in front of different crowds rather than the comfort of Wembley. Yep. Throw in the altitude and the chance of getting fried by lighting and it would make for an ‘interesting’ experience. Agreed they look vulnerable at the back and they give a lot of space, which should help too. We’ve got to get past Dr Congo yet though. |  |

I was watching a pod with Mike Tindall and Will Greenwood talking about playing at Loftus Versfeld for the first time and they were saying they really struggled with the altitude, 20 minutes in they said their bodies just gave up, couldn't get enough oxygen in and felt like they were playing at 20% fitness.

Yes, that’s true, but England only played like a top ten side for that match (or at least the second half). There’s plenty of scope for bad/misfiring or even just slow-out-of-the-blocks England to turn up. And Mexico have a significant home advantage.
