There are likely 50-100 clubs that would have at least a tentative interest in him. Why on Earth would he choose Ipswich?

To be honest, this will be the issue with a lot of our targets. If you're in for players that are Premier League level, they won't be short offers. This isn't Football Manager or FC26.

Haven't been that impressed by him.

But for your statement you could add any number of names. Let's start with Messi. Or Mbappe. More extreme. But we are not getting Jonathan David. There will be bigger clubs. Frankly not too fussed though. Would cost a lot and think there would be cheaper options who could actually work better for us.

He's not that good, he plays for Canada!

Worth a bid, he may want to come to the Prem.

We would double his money to play in the most high profile league in the world. We can trump 90% of clubs in Europe now for wages.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

What's his nationality got to do with how good he is?

The fact he plays for Juventus is a better indicator of his level.

And let's say he does want to come to the Premier League... why would he pick us over what would likely be a dozen other Premier League clubs showing interest.

I'm not saying we couldn't do it.

I'm just saying that signing top players is not as straightforward as people seem to think.

You do know we got 22 points at this level?

If he wants to join a top EFL club you’re right. If he doesn’t, he’ll have hundreds of better options, hundreds.

Christ. It would take the Ashton/Mckenna acis over TWO seasons to do what Leeds did, who have sailed past us with better recruitment, and two and half seasons to do a Sunderland!!!

Those aren’t even established premier league teams, just examples of clubs that have recruited better than us, and had MUCH better results and outcomes. Then there’s the other 18 clubs in this league, and half the clubs in France, Spain, Italy top divisions, and he’d have MSL and Saudi options if money is his thing.

This is the problem.

The happy clapping and pretending we were world class, while we wasted over £150 million (wasted relative to what the clubs at this level do with that money) was always nonsense with consequences.

It was only ever elite in EFL terms .., and sadly, at the level you’re now talking about, that’s a VERY low bar.

He’ll want to join an EFL team in maybe 10 years time!!!

If we want players like this we needed to stay in this division. That’s the first step, obviously it can be done, Forest, Leeds, Sunderland, many others, we just haven’t been good enough.

So clapping while we become the sum of Mark Ashtons recruitment talent, with 35 years evidence, looks flawed.

I hope we get this window right, and the panic copying of Sunderland and looking to France, gives me short term hope.

But where the vision. The strategy. The planning.

It’s just blind panic from Mark whenever he’s at a level he clearly can’t manage in his own.

He gets in his own way. And he’s made sure that means he also gets in clubs way from progressing.

It's depressing isn't it. The same negative claptrap, with the same dull phrases, from the same poster. Wish he would change the fecking record. Just for a change. The transfer window has only just opened ffs.

This is the same Juventus that paid Aaron Ramsey £400k a week. David is rumoured to be on upwards of £180k a week, sign them for free and give them ridiculous contracts, the Juventus way. No wondered they were cooking the books for years.

WHat's this view based off?

I have a Juventus fan at work who has been telling me how cr@p he is all season. I watched a few of their games and he was correct, totally useless for the most part.

He's also on about £180k a week

He played for Juventus 35 times last season ffs why on earth would he spurn 150k , European football and one of the worlds biggest clubs for a relegation battle with us ?

A troll? How rude!

Obviously I am joking about the fact he plays for a smaller nation, but I think he'd fancy the move.

Not set the world alight at Juve but looked brilliant at the WC, so worth a cheeky £25m bid I reckon.
