Hi everyone, just had to log in. Not to contribute to the thread, but I was reading it having not logged in and I ended up seeing a post from darkhorse28, which I don’t normally do when logged in , so had to correct that speedily.

Is having such a decisive character at the head of the club healthy for the club as a whole? I'm not so sure, but I'm not shouting it from the rooftops, for now. Of course an ordinary, reasonably balanced post that isnt saying Ashton is the greatest man in the world or Hitler reincarnated is sitting with no upvotes or downvotes. Your post is bang on, he’s probably a bit of a tosser, but ultimately has done more good than harm and this season should be the one we give him final judgement on.
O’Neil flops and our signings end up shite then Ashton out is a perfectly fair position. O’Neil works wonders and our new team carry us to a comfortable survival then the man keeps his job.
Ideally we’d get a new CEO or Chairman so he can share the workload (or someone reins him in from his crap ideas), but that would muddy the waters from people saying he’s god or the devil wouldn’t it? |  |

Not sure that frequently posting pretty nasty stuff about immigrants and trolling the forum as much as possible is being "a bit of a bell".
His first post on this thread was absolutely made to start an argument and he got exactly what he wanted.
He's a stain on the forum and far too many people are happy to turn a blind eye to his current and historic posting and engage in the occasional nonsense he posts about wildlife or buts to distract from all the other stuff he's posted in the meantime.
I look forward to the gang downvoting my post but they are enablers of his posting and a massive part of the problem as well.
I'm not replying to him or a few others anymore so I am sure they have can a nice pile-on about the uncomfortable truth being pointed out. Might make their Saturday night more interesting.

My posts about Wildlife and Waterbutts may be nonsense to you,but they are important to me.I very much have a garden for nature,I have plants that attract the bees and butterflies,like Lavatera I have at least 10 of those.Buddleias I have white and purple for the butterflies and bees plus all my roses and smaller flowering plants.I mustn’t forget my beautiful Hollyhocks.
My neighbours hate my garden as they don’t have gardens they call their gardens (outdoor living spaces) but the wildlife fly over their gardens to get to mine!
I think you look to deeply at me.
Like I said before there are people on here who probably are more like you than me with their political views etc,but I am good friends with them off the forum.
Still we can’t be liked by everyone can we.

Not sure why you're calling out someone for being very upset about what happened, many people were rightly upset, the entire fanbase was lied to.
Also doesn't say he will stop posting anywhere in that quote, just that he will undertake his own protest against Ashton.

Actually, I don’t think I have. I’ve been consistent throughout on this as I am with everything else, hopefully. At first I took a ‘wait and see’ view combined with ‘the club is not Ashton, owners or managers. It is the supporters, area, community’ and the MAs of this world come and go - as indeed McKenna has.
In other words I thought the whole business was not as earth shattering as the majority on here. Promotion, the club, the area were more important than a CEO and a politician. The overriding point for me was always that a football club should never allow itself to be dragged into politics. If it does, that’s down to those responsible and accountable.
An interesting aspect is that some appear to view the club as Ashton’s (not just Darkhorse). The owners and investors to whom Ashton reports just don’t appear to exist to some. They appointed him and have kept him there. It’s their money building the club. Do people want them gone? I know there are some that yearn for the good ole days of Evans. I don’t.
I thought in March the owners would restructure the top end of the club anyway, given its growth, including MAs role. I suspect at some point it still will.
I gave my final view on this matter on 31st March. I’ve not changed it and I’ll not repeat it. That view differs to some, is not deemed relevant by others and mirrors at least a couple on here. It’s an opinion and that’s fine.
I do not like inconsistency. Calling out somebody for posting Ashton in after somebody has posted Ashton out is unfair in my view. If views are only allowed that conform to what a certain section of want to read, the forum will just become a pointless echo chamber.
I do like objectivity and balance. Some clearly do not. Example? Well there was little of that with the McKenna out posts around 2 Dec and to this day more than one is trying to justify their take by diminishing McKenna’s achievement. That’s up to them. Their opinion, but it annoyed me then and still does.
So does the ‘campaign’ against Ashton. If people want him gone, fine. Their view. They’ve made their point as have I, but there’s no balance in criticising him for things that go wrong them dissing, sidelining and mocking anything that’s got right.
Facts and evidence - there is an awful lot of things that I respect your views on because you have knowledge and do your research. But there are dangers around facts and evidence. It can be misused, manufactured, bent to a purpose so I do not take them on face value, especially if published in media which I know to have its own agenda, it may also be incomplete or out of context.
Principles - I’ve seen plenty of people waving those around on here. Fine, but if somebody holds them, they should be consistent with them. I only really have two unbreakable ones. I like to keep things simple.
The club will always come before CEOs managers etc for me. Being upset? Well a poster withdrawing his support for the club is actually protesting against the club in my view. It’s no different to a poster on here who never wants to see the club promoted again. I cannot understand views like that and I will sometimes challenge them. I might be right or wrong.
Everybody should be able to express a view on 99% of things (some stuff is obviously off limits/offensive). Challenge is one thing. However much knowledge one may have on something, there’s always more to learn, if one has an open mind. Abuse, wanting people banned because their view is different or a person just doesn’t like another, OTT ridicule is not acceptable to me.
So no, I’ve not changed. Have you? Apologies for the length of this ramble. There’s too much of my view in it, but there it is. |  | | |
