| This Trump intervention on the Balagun red card cannot be allowed to happen 10:35 - Jul 6 with 7117 views | unstableblue | Firstly you can argue he wasn’t looking at where he was landing his foot, but it’s a miracle the ankle isnt broken, it’s his full force, its dangerous. Even if it’s harsh it’s a red card offence. If it had been a major error, there had been minimal contact or the defender had instigated the contact - well even then you don’t overturn it. There are no rules of precedent. But this is Trumps America, its corruption at the top of government and rule of law is falling apart. This past week he’s trying to sentence someone with trumped up charges about damaging his reflecting pool debacle, and is lying through his teeth about the success of his disastrous state fair! Maybe the US become Southampton… | | | |

I assume they'll threaten tariffs on Belgium if they keep up the complaint.

They probably think Belgium is the same and Denmark, and will threaten to invade Greenland.

Maybe divert a few missiles from the ones they’re throwing around the Middle East? Luckily for Belgium, they won’t have a clue where Belgium is. They’ll probably blow up Bhutan instead lol [Post edited 6 Jul 19:51]

| This Trump intervention on the Balagun red card cannot be allowed to happen on 15:38 - Jul 6 by Samuelowen88 | Oh great, Trump is now spouting off. "I understand sports really well" closely followed by "the referee gave him a red card. I didn't know what that meant" and his usual nonsense "This referee, who is a little bit suspect. If you check his past, I don't want to say that because I don't like to create controversy, but very suspect... if you like I'll provide you with the past." |
Trump wears the hat of the Bullsh!tter-In-Chief, like nobody's ever worn it before.

There must have been quite a few off-the-record conversations happening within the national FAs of Europe, even before this. |
I don’t think so. Even if uefa (also lacking good governance practice) with backing of member associations were to withdraw from fifa competitions, I suspect fifa would just laugh. Infantino is already a shoo in for the next election. Most of the world will back him. We could decide that’s the right thing to do but I don’t see it.

I think UEFA actually would have strong hand, any tournaments are hugely devalued without the European teams. Was just reading an article where it seems UEFA really aren't happy with FIFA. Same article says over the 4 year cycle, the income from the Champions League alone is greater than FIFAs income over that period which mainly comes from the World Cup and would be greatly reduced without European teams. Doesn't mean anything will happen of course. SB

It needs to. Ronaldo decision. Bizarre US "mistaken identity" decision, the current nonsense, Quatar, the peace prize. Open flagrant corruption over and over again.

It’s been that way for decades with fifa and the ioc. It’s just in this age it’s not as important to hide it so much. You’re less at hock to the media because you have so much more power to control narrative. FIFA will laugh at us if uefa walk away and they’ll be fine. It’ll continue.
