| Geekiest app you have on your phone? 18:31 - Jul 12 with 2423 views | BelsteadCav | I’ve got 2 which are a bit Geeky 1. The Merlin bird ID. If you can’t see the bird but can hear it, the app will listen to its song and tell you what it is. 2. Star Walk. Hold it up in the nights sky and it will tell you what the stars, Planets and Constellations are. Can I be out geeked [Post edited 12 Jul 18:49]

I have plenty of apps, but they tend to be things like rail companies, car, travel companies NHS and day to day sort of stuff. Rarely used, of course.

It’s the weird snuffle he makes that does it. We compared it with the bird itself and it does sound very similar. The app does say next to the identification that’s it’s highly unlikely to be one,but it makes us smile when it comes up. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think Flight Radar is fairly standard, along with the ship one too (for anyone who lives by the seas). All my clan have those and various night sky apps too.

Telescore - football results, Ceefax/Teletext style. TrailTale - guided walks, although I haven't used it yet. Oblique Strategies - lateral thinking cards by Brian Eno.

I have NightSky for stars, but yes, that and Merlin are mainstays. MLB Trade Rumors (sic) feels fairly nerdy too. And OpenCanals for the annual barge holiday…

As I already have one of my own called Picture This, I may outgeek you. It’s a plant and fungi identifier which tells you if what you’re looking at is toxic to pets and/or humans. Very useful when you’re at a garden centre wanting to buy plants for parts of the garden that the mutt (who’s both a scavenger and inquisitive) has access to.

I love my FlightRadar App. If I’m out on my walks and see something interesting regarding Aircraft 9/10 it will tell me what is.

I walked into a dentist's the other night. He said "sit down, what's the problem?" I said "I think I'm a moth" He said, "I'm a dentist not a psychiatrist, why did you come in here?" I said, "I saw the light was on."
| Geekiest app you have on your phone? on 10:56 - Jul 13 with 798 views | Libero | It's kind of my whole job to be 'geeky' - I guess right now it would be the app for MCM comic con Birmingham, but failing that I'm doing a bit of work for a company who provide digital versions of comic books on a subscription service- so I've their service downloaded atm, to learn more about it before I film the endorsement. | | | |

I’ve got that to try and work out what’s in my garden and also to snap anything nice I see in other people’s front gardens. It’s a great app

Do you still play? I lost interest after Lightfall so never played The Final Shape. Most of my mates carried on past that point but I don't see them playing it much these days
