I'm not sure he is. He's been at 2 clubs now fighting at the top end of the champ and bottom end of the Prem. Both times he's been no more than a back up, and hasnt managed to nail down a first team slot. I think he'd be better off going to a middling champ team, and being one of the first names on the team sheet. I liked Woolfie, and was always happy to see him in our team. He has, though, been left on the sidelines, by multiple managers, over a long period now. There is clearly something that these managers don't fancy about him. Which is a shame, as he clearly has some talent.

One of favourites when he was here but... obviously he has some physical limitations when you start reaching PL level and from the little stories i've heard, I don't think he's the most dedicated to his craft - not in a disruptive d*ckhead way... more in a too chilled out for his own good way

I'm not sure your assessment of Woolfie is quite right......The last season he spent with us in the Championship he started 40 of our 46 games. He then played 15 games in the Premier League, he plays at the top end of the Championship because that's his level. Since his breakthrough season as a 20 year old on loan at Swindon in 2018 he's been a regular in every team, at every level from League 2 through to the Championship. His Premier League season was the first time he'd made less than 20 starts in a season. He certainly hasn't been left on the sidelines by multiple managers over a long period of time, he just couldn't quite cut it in the Prem and joined a similarly capable team in the Championship, he still managed over 30 appearances across those 2 seasons. He could probably have his pick of Champ sides should he want to move again, he's a top Championship centre back and at 27 would be a great signing for anyone aiming for promotion. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

In a league 1 squad. A freakishly ober performing sqiad, but a league 1 squad. Burgess now playing regular Championship football...

He’s a Rolls Royce at times, but almost every manger has called out his lack of concentration and how he switches off. Those clubs might be a good shout. He maybe does need to be a big fish somewhere, he certainly needs to start week in week out, he’s too good to be bench warming and championship pushing for oaky offs probably is where he’s at. Cracking player but trust is big in football, ask Titus Bramble, when mistakes cost goals and results, managers quickly forget all the good things you do.

He wasn't back up for us during our promotion season. He was first pick alongside Burgess for the most part. [Post edited 17 Jul 11:15]

That does ring a bell. But other than a few scoffing comments, I don’t remember a full pile-on or anyone ever putting him in the same bracket as some of our more infamous alumni.

I do to generally. There might be a few I think of otherwise, but most I'm always supportive of, during and after. If a player arrives here and he proves to be not what's required, it's not the fault of the player, but the recruitment process that brought him here at the time.

Burgess was the better of the two and is a mid table championship defender now. People who think Woolfie should be a top level championship defender are looking through blue tinted specs imo

That is in the past it is what O’Neil sees that matters, if our manager showed an interest in bringing him back would be OK with me.
