I'm not a sports lawyer but having worked with lawyers in other circumstances I presume that terms being agreed does not necessarily mean the contract is agreed. There is still a process for those terms to be turned into a formal contract and the usual process of arguing over minor points of legalese before everything can be signed, sealed and delivered. | | | |

Sorry, if that sounds unkind, it is not meant that way. Transfers take time, once verbally agreed, still need to get player to the club, do medical, sort out legal paperwork, get it all signed, complete signing interviews and videos etc.
The club are working on multiple deals, not just the five we know about, and you can only go so fast. We could plausibly go into our first open to public friendly with eight new signings. Eight. | | | |

Then all the clubs (like us) in the EPL will have a go. Then, further on when we know who we are getting, some of ours can be released/loaned/sold.

You realise a medical isn't some dude in a white coat cupping his balls and asking him to cough right?
You're talking about reviewing previous medical records,mri, ultrasound, x-rays, cts, heart and lung testing, checking every single joint, blood tests, piss tests.
That alone can take best part of a day, then anything, I mean anything that has even the slightest concern means a second opinion may be required, any issues then can affect the price, the length of contract, the club then having to adjust insurance.
We're not talking about buying a £20k car and a quick look on the internet at its history for a crash, we're talking about a rare one off race cars with limited availability of parts costing millions.
Whilst a medical can take a day, the results can mean nothing is signed off for a few days.
That's not to say sometimes it does, but even a reserve goalie costing a few mill needs careful attention and it's wise to follow the same procedures.

I think the key word in what you say is 'seem'! Because we follow Town closely we see and hear the progress of a deal. Do we/you do the same with other clubs? I certainly dont, so it 'seems' to me that they just get things done - when in reality they are probably just the same as us. |  |

To announce a concert for example (same process as a football player) can take weeks and weeks, the deals may well be confirmed but the marketing and getting everyone to agree then creating the marketing assets for each format / sizing takes a while. I assume these players at this level have branding and image rights as well to consider and build in to the process.
