| Cam Humphreys 21:45 - Jul 25 with 3821 views | ThatMuhrenCross | Given our paper thin midfield, is it possible that Cam Humphreys may finally get his opportunity? Maybe not thinking as a starter, but more if we were to sell Taylor and sign a couple of starters, I wonder if he has an outside chance of getting some minutes in the Premier League off the bench from time to time? | |

| Cam Humphreys on 21:58 - Jul 25 with 3459 views | Bellevue_Blue | Hopefully it is not paper thin by August 22nd! He's played in 6 Championship games in his career. We just cannot be relying on him from the bench. | | | |

Would love him to play form Ipswich but the stars haven't aligned for him. If he had come through two years before he probably would have had way more games. Love his attitude. Great guy. But I think he needs to go somewhere else to play more. Will always follow what he does.

| Cam Humphreys on 00:54 - Jul 26 with 2742 views | Smoresy | Retaining Cam at the expense of Taylor would be a bit nutty wouldn't it? McKenna gave him 10 league minutes last season, mostly not finding room on the bench. Re finally getting an opportunity, he's had two great ones here imo. Firstly, the long run in the side in 22/23, sometimes forgotten, but we sought improvement midway through in Luongo and more again over the summer. Secondly, the start of last season, when we began the campaign with half a midfield. Cam had spent many months under McKenna's keen observation and tutelage by this point but he wasn't able to convince. | | | |
| Cam Humphreys on 07:09 - Jul 26 with 2446 views | RIPbobby | Cameron H is our one true player who loves the ball. Watch how the Spanish mens national team plays and he fits in that mould. If you give him the ball in a difficult and tight situation he has the ability to receive the ball, due a trick or a turn and come away with the ball alleviating all the danger. I don't think anyone else has anywhere near the ability to nurture the ball as him. Very much a dying breed kind of footballer. He should be nurtured in the game he is that good. Whilst I love power, pace and fitness, someone who never gives the ball away is a forgotten breed. Bravo to cam. | | | |
| Cam Humphreys on 08:19 - Jul 26 with 2229 views | muccletonjoe | He is more than good enough to take his chance. Maybe if he had cost 30 million and no one had heard of him people would be happy to play him. | | | |
| Cam Humphreys on 08:37 - Jul 26 with 2169 views | lurcher | I expect this will be the summer that he moves out on a permanent deal. We need some serious work in the middle if the park. Ideally we need to sign 2-3 CM's this window. With all of current midfield players pushed out to the fringes of the squad. [Post edited 26 Jul 8:38]

Homegrown players can now come from any English or Welsh club. We have plenty of those. They no longer need to have come from us/ITFC

Maybe if he'd played more than 6 games in the league below we are currently you'd have a point. He's had potential for a decent time now and has done pretty well two leagues below the premier League, but for people to think that at this moment in time he's anywhere near a premier League squad level is a bit much. He's 23 in a couple of months, hardly some youngster out of school. I like him but we've grown too fast for him.

Would be far better than Nunez. One performance out of 10 doesn't really cut it for me.

Okay. Both can be not good enough. Nunez has his moments and I think he offers more than Cam, but ultimatey I wouldn't be gutted to see neither around the squad or team, assuming that meant we'd got an upgrade or two in the building.
| Cam Humphreys on 12:46 - Jul 26 with 1638 views | Chrisd | I think if Humphreys was going to break into our First Team he would have done it by now. He looks a very good L1 player with the ability to play Championship football. I'm not sure he is EPL quality sadly. | |

To date no champ team.has tried to take him and he couldn't force his way into the champ team. I love Humphreys and I think McKenna did too. It wasn't some.sortmof.spite he wasn't played. I hope he finally gets a run in the champ but he quite obviously isn't prem ready.

You say that, but we have to have 8 home grown players in the squad, and given the direction our recruitment is taking, that will make it tight. Right now I see 9 likely to be in the squad, so we make it over line with 1 addition (unless any the remaining recruits are home grown). We also have to have 1 club developed player in the squad if we want 9 on the bench. That would mean one of Harry Clarke or Cam Humphries stays (unless we brought in Pope, but that looks unlikely now).

No problems with the lad, he'll make a very decent player for someone somewhere. Got to be a CMF coming in.

The number is far higher than you think, nationality is irrelevant. We currently have 21 players that qualify. Players only need to have spent 3 seasons in an English or welsh academy. The club developed player was a championship rule and does not exist in the Premier league. As it stands Walton Palmer Button H Clarke Davis Johnson Furlong Greaves O'Shea (Might be short of the 3 years) Taylor McAteer Szmodics Humphries Mehmeti Burns Hirst Philogene Clarke Al Hamadi Ogbene (Might be short of the 3 years) Akpom [Post edited 27 Jul 7:58]

I disagree it's quite as clear cut as you suggest, with the likely departures. Many won't be here imo come Sept 1st (yes, it's guesswork, but that's why I said we just need to be careful, as we have to keep enough to cover the requirement, without making it so tight that it starts to influence who we can sign in future windows. It's just another often overlooked aspect of recruitment. Don't qualify Ogbene (arrived in England when he was 20/21) Most likely won't be here / in the squad Button H Clarke / Humphries Taylor Szmodics Al-Hamadi Palmer (I don't see us keeping both Palmer & Walton) May possibly move on Akpom Furlong Philogene Johnson I di see us keeping one of H Clarke / Humphries though, for the 9th bench option.

It feels like he should be looking for a move like Baggott now. You can't spend your entire career being loaned out.
