I played a bit of village cricket back in the day - remember it getting very heated when we ran a guy out by about 2 ft and the umpire (from their side) didn't give it as out.
"Just not cricket" is such a loaded phrase - but defo applies here.

Think there is definitely a bit of a problem with self-umpiring, but to an extent, everyone knows that LBWs are only going to be given if absolutely plumb, and at least with that, both sides have to umpire, so there's a level of self regulation that goes on...
But this looks disgusting... they've got independent umpires, but making a concerted attempt to deceive them. I would imagine that the league will throw the book at them, as they should.
Liam Before Wicket has done a good video on this. Saying what most people think. At this level, we're playing for fun, and for a bit of pride, but where's the pride in winning because you've cheated? I've never understood it, and never will.
In my experience this type of thing is rife in club cricket, I gave up years ago and only play the occasional friendly these days, even then some people take them far too seriously, and I could never understand it. It's pathetic. Play to win, fair enough but it's only a pastime at that level. Pretty sure I've witnessed this exact thing happen before

Exactly. Same as playing pool, 99% of players will put their hand up to a foul shot, or they did when I played

Came in off a short run up, clattered pads full on, dead in front. Howzat? Home umpire, Not out!
Came in next ball off slightly longer run up. Batsman gets huge edge to keeper. Howzat? Not out!
Came in off full run up, beats batsman all ends up, wickets and bails scattered everywhere. Turns to umpire and says “That must have been f**ing close”

Club cricket is different from league cricket though isnt it ? I mean this is top tier club cricket, not a local village XI club playing on a village green in 80s sitcom style, theyre playing in the ECBs premier league, one step below the minor counties semi professional stuff.thats why theres not only footage of this game but other games too.
Its like Isthmian league level to try to draw a football comparison.
And it looks like the whole team are in on it. Id kick them out of the league fwiw

I’m not sure what club level you’re involved in but most club games in Yorkshire (where I live) - not just ECB elite leagues - are live streamed every week and have been for several years. Just surprising this hasn’t ben spotted before.

I love playing village cricket, but the attitude towards umpires every week is getting exhausting. I play at a low enough level where the matches are self-officiated and not a week goes past without some kind of squabble occurring whilst I'm umpiring. I don't know what's worse, giving a teammate out and them going off to have a strop or not giving them out and have the fielding team aggressively accuse you of being a cheat. Ipswich based teams are terrible for this (especially I&ES) but I've had issues with some of the village clubs as well from all over the county. We had a middle aged bloke from Woolpit refuse to shake our hands after the game last Saturday after he was unhappy about a not given caught behind decision, they'd just won by about 80 odd runs!

Must been a good clicker! The ump is 22 yards away to hear that. More likely to fool his own wicket keeper into appealing. Camera focused in on this, so plenty of previous leading to someone focusing in on him? During inter firm I had Neil Manning of the EADT plum, over at John Players. He wouldn’t walk, his own umpire asked him! We won, but I ignored his hand. A few years later I called him a cheat while we were walking dogs over Rushmere golf course, not that I was bitter! He was a right specimen as witnessed in their old Club at the back of the offices in Lower Brook Street. Lecherous slime ball comes to mind.
