Even before McKenna made it clear he wasnt going to be here this season we knew both Taylor and Matisuwa would not be fit for pre-season. Leaving these positions as vital areas of recruitment in the first weeks of the transfer window. We are now into the first week of August, and no amount of ridicule on here is going to convince me anyone is being unduly critical of the clubs recruitment process this summer. |  | | |

What likely provoked them was watching us against Oxford yesterday, which was pretty horrific (but also a scratch team packed out with Youths).
To claim that the recruitment has failed, you would need to provide evidence that they could have signed players of sufficient quality in those positions (without ignoring better prospects requiring more work to attract) earlier than this point in the window. Not merely saying that they should have been able to, which is pure supposition. |  |

Yes. Apart from that brief bit of chanting which the lad down the front was conducting, it was all very subdued - if getting a bit testy and frustrated as the game progressed.

Will be happier when the training ground is open and photo updates on the West stand look less like a building site.
Will be more at ease when Ashton has fewer balls to juggle and we can see recruitment ramping up. We need to get everyone in and ready to go before the Sunderland game. Wasn’t so important last time we couldn’t realistically expect the points from our first two games. We should however be expecting a result against Sunderland. |  |
