| Reform plans to use the Navy to stop small boats 20:17 - Aug 3 with 3381 views | StokieBlue | Some quite incredible stuff: - The Royal Navy will remove people from small boats whilst at sea - They will take them to the France or Belgium infringing on territorial waters. - If France or Belgium won't take them the navy or marines will deposit them on the beaches further infringing on their territory. Whilst probably being illegal the French have also said it's not happening. https://www.theguardian.com/po https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/art Also seems very noticeable that Farage has started using the word "invasion" as much as possible in his statements and interviews since the events in Ceuta. I guess they have a lot to distract from given the timing revelations around Farage today and the fact Tice is being investigate. SB | |

There isn't a legitimately anti-immigration party in mainstream politics in this country, especially on the right. Their party donors businesses would collapse without the cheap foreign labour coming in. They survive on exploitation. Reform will cut tax and drive immigration up.

| Reform plans to use the Navy to stop small boats on 21:33 - Aug 3 by DanTheMan | I know this is somewhat of a joke, but our navy is decently sized if you go by tonnage. But obviously not exactly designed for hunting now little boats just off the coast. |
Tho that's partly because we have three hulking relics of a former age. Only one of which is HMS Victory

He's oddly proportioned - in that he has a large head, a long torso and short legs. It's 'oddly disturbing'. |
Which is funny because when he wears his double-breasted suit jacket it makes his torso looks even longer

If only there was a legal mechanism in place that allowed this country to send back illegal migrants back to the first EU country that they entered. If there was, I doubt very much that these Reform types would’ve voted to pull the UK out from it. [Post edited 4 Aug 11:28]

Wow. Perhaps the time has come for Labour to run on a re-joining the EU manifesto. I said there was no chance when it came up the other day because of freedom of movement but if this is the alternative then it would be for the best. Even though the plan will not work it would be a disaster if people voted to betray our allies, show we have become a joke internationally and face all the consequences that would come with even attempting it (tariffs, support for Argentina and Spain over the Falklands and Gibraltar and all sorts of other things). Imagine if the geography was reversed and the French were saying we will drop them off on the British beaches...the outrage would be nuclear.

Well, the French did implement an expensive defence mechanism in the run up to WW2 which ultimately proved to be ineffective so it could be argued that they did apply a similar level of thinking to that which has gone into Reform's latest proposal on this topic.

Where’s Churchman when he’s needed? I assume she’s talking about Dunkirk and similar when, if it wasn’t for the French defending our evacuation, we would have lost most if not all our retreating forces? [Post edited 4 Aug 14:26]

A rejoin campaign could run using the catchphrase ‘Return the Refugees’. Reform voters would lap it up. They wouldn’t need anything else.

She seems to want to turn the Tories into a “Reform Lite” party. I’m no fan of the traditional Tory party but its strength to me, was that it was able to branch out its message to different audiences- the Tory Left seemed to have little in common with the Tory Right, but somehow it worked politically. But Badenoch seems to want to only appeal to those on the right alienating a lot of potential voters. It might well “work” for extreme parties not I’m not sure it will for a mainstream party - Corbyn tried it and failed. Possibly Stramer did as well and that left him unpopular as well with the grassroots.

Reform aren’t alone in inflammatory language. Russia must be laughing, no doubt they’d also be the biggest beneficiaries of us tying up what’s left of our Navy…
