Would make sense, I guess. He would be handy if we did drop back down again, so the baggies playing him regularly would be helpful.

Wait, so are we still West Brom B or will they be Ipswich B?

If it's been communicated that he's available, as appears to be the case, then surely we've lost any chance of a loan club agreeing to pay his wages in full?

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Loan ?? We don’t seem to be able to sell barely anyone, we did do some bad business in the last year or so, paid some top dollar clearly

The only Muff in Town.

That's a very lopsided take on it imo.

Many PL clubs have loads of players out on loan. It's incremental income to help balance the books, and we hold onto a potential asset. Kasey is (again imo) a far better player than many give credit for - his underlying stats have been good since he joined, and that promise was beginning to show as last season progressed.

By loaning him out it keeps our options open - if he does well at WBA and develops further, his value will go up, and we then have either someone who's improved even more to add to the squad at the end of the loan, or we sell him for an increased amount. This is all part of the club's new value proposition.

I'm wondering if we're keeping some of these "loans" as opposed to sales close to home in case we need to bring them back next season in the Champ

Maybe with Macateer but Al Hamadi ? Not likely to feature for us wherever we are, and also a loan

This particular transfer perplexed the majority from the moment it was announced, and there's no way that his performances taken as a whole did anything to shift the dial on that assessment.

Kieran achieved some great things, but he was no magician in the transfer market.

people keep talking about bad business but in hindsight its all been good business, we brought in players, maybe they didn't live up to expectation based on their price tags but we got promoted so job done. I dont overly rate Mcateer or even Egelli based on the money spent but they contributed to where we are today so hope they do well wherever they go.

Stu Watson has ruled this out, in O’Neils plans.

Agree. He just needs to find a bit of fire and 'nastiness' in his play. Confidence and arrogance. A good loan could leave us with a PL player in 6 months or 12.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Watson has no idea.

I don't think Watson would have posted this (I saw it on the new KOA app) if he hadn't been told something by the club.

"Kasey McAteer has been told he's part of Gary O'Neil's plans for the season ahead .... the EADT and Ipswich Star understands."

That. But also profit is important. A successful seasons loan might see his value go up while his book value decreases. Moving players on at a loss doesn’t allow us to increase our spending, it decreases it.

That's exactly it, he is parroting the line fed to him by the club. They aren't going to say 'we are desperate to offload Kasey' are they? We want to get the best deal possible for him.

I think it's safe to say that Stu is less knowledgeable due to restrictions over the past few seasons but to say he has no idea is a little bit harsh

Ashton telling Watson to write that McAteer's in GON's plans is so wild considering what KM has been told. It'll rumble on and he'll probably leave on deadline day with WBA paying like half his wages.

He doesn't know. The EADT is being fed scraps from the club that suit their agenda. What have Watson/EADT reported over the last 12 months that is breaking news other than when they've had an 'exclusive' from a club source? Most of their content is discussing rumours/info reported from other sources.
