I've published a book of my ITFC poems (one for every league game last season) 09:56 - Aug 17 with 3321 viewsThe_Flashing_Smile

I don't expect it to sell massively or make any money, it was more for the pleasure of doing it (and then having a physical record for years to come).

Would be amazing if any of you bought a copy though!
Could be a nice, different, memento of last season's promotion.

Thanks to Phil for help/advice, and even a quote for the cover;

"Normally, I really hate poetry, especially when it's about football.
But I've thoroughly enjoyed Martin's coverage of Town's season in verse."

I frequently read them throughout the season & agree with your sentiment (normally dislike poetry, especially football related, but at least it's about Ipswich, so happy to read them)!

Just out of interest, did it cost you anything to have it published?

Or did you approach a publisher & they published it at no cost to you?

Well done Dollers. I always admire people who follow a passion like that, and pretty cool to turn it into something tangible.

I self published through Amazon (and used a free manuscript editor called Reedsy).

The only cost has been a couple of quid to receive a proof copy (which is optional). And I've bought one copy for myself (again, optional, and I'll get a few quid back in royalties).

Oh and I used Canva Pro for designing the cover, which costs £15 a month but I had that anyway.

So all in all you could do it for free if you wanted.

You should move this to the football section. It might help to garner more views as I believe not all look at the general section.

Ha, funnily enough I originally put it in Football and moved it to General. You're right though, it's better the other way round!

Out of interest, how does Kindle unlimited work for authors? Its something I currently have, so I picked up your book under that license. Do you still get royalties? How do they compare to those from a real life printed book?

It depends how many pages you read!
They have a central fund that's shared between all authors on Kindle Unlimited, based on number of pages read.
So I've no idea really.

Ah cheers, that's lovely Bluebell.
Yeah Gav has occassionally told me the figures of how many read the blogs and there's quite a few thousand... but also the figures get skewed by bots apparently.

Fill your boots:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Betwe

You can read the first few in the "Sample" section to see if it's something you'd like.

Also, feel free to DM me if you want any tips for self-publishing. It's actually fairly easy through Amazon (I had a YouTube tutorial to guide me).
