Good move for all and if it seems likely by the weekend then presumably we are close to landing someone.

Sad to see him go. He's been a big part of the journey, but we've outgrown him.

Wonder how this is getting done, maybe we've agreed to make up the difference in PL wages to George to give him a nudge to get it over the line.

I don't like the 'drive him there myself' rubbish... George was a crucial cog in getting us 3 promotions in his time here and was imo not out of his depth in the PL. Had very good games at Chelsea and Everton in particular.

Good luck to him. Made a huge contribution for us, his goal at Bolton, and Derby, and Barnsley in that L1 run in. And Norwich last season.

Good move for all parties, hopefully a decent profit for us.

Hi signed a new deal when we had been relegated, I doubt the differential is that high.

Embolo in before the weekend then too. Wouldn’t let this be done without a replacement would we!!! Hmmm 🤔

Slightly disappointed for Hirst to be honest. Stoke doesn't feel like a great move. Don't see them challenging.

Thought he might have gone to a Birmingham/Southampton/Sheffield United

To be honest even a L1 Leicester might have been more appealing. Burns, Chaplin and Hirst ride again.

Yes, totally disrespectful with the 'drive them there myself' stuff.

He's in a similar group to Harry Clarke, in my view. Crucial players that have been part of breathing new life into the club, while potentially playing above their natural levels.

It felt like Hirst reverted a little to type last season. Stoke is about his level I feel, but I'd back him to get 10-12 goals there too with half-decent service from Sorba Thomas and Manhoef.

A cracking signing for them, he knows how to get the job done. Weird club, most wealthy backers in the league...maybe they'll stumble on a way of getting themselves sorted.

Key component of the beloved band of brothers that we'll all remember forever and anyone with a different analysis clearly hasn't been on the same ride for the past four years.

Enciso might've been the domino in this case. I wouldn't be surprised to see him used in the number 9 for us at times as he did for Paraguay. A bit like how GON used Cunha at Wolves.

Still clearly want another 9 but maybe that's just given us enough confidence with Enciso, Emersonn & Akpom all here.

It's a mathematical fact that none of the promotions happen without his goals

Yep, no doubt about that whatsoever. A very unique profile of player too.

It's no shame that he's not quite cut out for the best league in the world.

He’s a good player. Better than people give him credit for. Ok, last season wasn’t his best, but he still contributed to us getting over the line and his form was coming back at the end of the season.

He offers something a little different and I’d have been happy for him to stay. However our finest gave him dogs abuse here and in his shoes I’d have been banging the door down for a move at the season’s end.

If he goes to Stoke, he will get proper support from the crowd and I think he’ll do just fine. Robins is a good manager who knows a proper player when he sees one. Should he leave, I wish GH well.

He would automatically receive an increase based on promotion to the PL, so he will be on a PL contract now.

Gutting to lose George, probably not a dependable PL striker but underrated on his day and has had a huge impact on our journey.

I feel like he’s often forgotten about when talking about the heroes from the last few years but he’s given us some incredible moments.

Barnsley away
Sunderland away
Hull away
Norwich away
QPR at home

Thank you for everything George.

Yes, but lower end PL wages. Its not unusual for players to join Champ clubs from lower end PL clubs.

The differential wont be that high that it prevents a transfer.

There is something really special about when you can see an incredibly important goal like that coming. The first goal was equally as important, but it came out of nowhere and no one quite knew what was going on. But the moment Hirst got the better of the Barnsley defender on the halfway line, you knew it was on, and the anticipation had a few seconds to grow before the release of joy.

The moment I think most of us truly believed it was happening.

Solid player for us and gave us some great memories.

In terms of his career, I would have liked him to go abroad and give that a try. Going to Stoke is not very sexy, sorry Stokies.
