He would be stupid to do that ...

Whose going to match his PL wage?

I’ve been saying for years that he’s a bad egg, but a certain section of our fanbase seems to idolise him. If he goes to Norwich, I do hope people finally see him for what he actually is.

Never understood why so many rated him, understood the home grown element but was an average championship defender at best. Aside from the footballing aspect seems to have an issue with authority if he doesn’t like decisions that are made.

That's not fair imo. Woolfy is a very good player. Good on the ball and was huge part of KM style of play for good period. Good eye for a pass and I thought he read the game well. Classy defender. Top end champ may be his place but that's not too shabby.

I think he is like most players - frustrated when he doesn't get minutes and believes in his ability. He didn't look out of place in the PL when he played.

He was also a player that really cared and was passionate. The interview after the Swindon home defeat was moving. He was almost beside himself.

I liked that he had a bit of character.

Hope he does well wherever he ends up as long as it's not up the road!!!

That's simply not the case. Important part of the previous promotion and didn't let us down in his brief appearances in the Premier. He's clearly not a Premier League CB as just didn't have any pace but certainly above average in the Championship.

Reached his peak in the promotion team of 23-24, struggled in the Prem like most of our defence did, transferred to Cov but failed to make an impact in their promotion season. I doubt he would be anywhere near our current starting XI and is being moved on again from Coventry where he is now surplus. Imagine he will find his level in possibly a playoff chasing champ team.

You can be average in an above average team, that’s how team sports work.

Calming influence on the ball and read the game well, brilliant if you want your team to play loads of short passes and be attacking. Just not enough of a brute or quick enough to be a regular in the PL.

I actually admire him for this. Someone who wants to play football rather than sit on his backside and pick up a wage packet should be applauded, especially in this day and age, not slated. Other than the political comment, I'm not sure what he did wrong for the level of vitriol he gets on here.

Mind you, will have to rethink if he goes to Norwich. Sitting in the stands is better than that.

Edit: Amended odd predictive text.

Player looking for regular game time to do his trade, absolutely no problems with this. In fact for me more should do this rather than be satiated with sitting in the dugout on mega money and not contributing regularly.

Happy for Woolfie to push for more on the pitch time... equally he needs to find his level and get playing week in week out to avoid all the side line stuff.

he needs to find a club in no danger of being promoted to the premiership, norwich might not be such a daft choice!

I would never wish that on any exiles!! That would be a one way exit to L1.
Out of interest though, would Leicester be an opportunity for Wolfie?

I wouldn't wish Russell Martin on any of the exiles! Mind you, two are there already.

I think he’s a high Championship level player. Over 180 appearances, two promotions and a selling on fee - he did us proud. Good player who formed a solid partnership with Burgess.

He will be 28 in October and needs to be playing week in week out so I can see why he’d want to move on. Good luck to him wherever he goes. If that is to the hovel up the road fine. His career, family security etc should come first as a professional footballer.

100% agreed re. Russell... was working off the theory the Russell Martin will be exiled pretty quickly if results don't happen.

Either way Wolfie would help with >80 poession stats being able to bring the ball out from the back.

Personally I've always rated Woolfie - looked a class act from the day he made his debut. So I was surprised that no manager has put complete trust in him yet. I know that he was first choice for a year after our Lg 1 promo' but hecwas replaced immediately we went into the prem. Even then, when he played he seemed comfortable but didnt cement his place.
He presumably went to Cov expecting to be 2st choice but again found himself on the bench most of the time. And now we hear he wants out from there too.
I get that he backs his own ability, but I do wonder why he's not risen to the top on sheer ability and made himself first choice at either club.Managers must feel he lacks something, because to me he looks so classy.

Poll: Will you be watching the 3rd/4th place play off game?

Woolfenden on 06:43 - Aug 25 with 1501 viewsLen_Brennan

He's a good Championship level, footballing centre half, no more & certainly no less. He does have question marks of his attitude & application at times though, which will frustrate a lot of managers. In the right team, with the right manager, he can absolutely be a reap asset in the Championship, and is someone who is capable of doing a job, when called upon, as part of a newly promoted PL squad; however, a PL side is not going to be looking to sign him.
The elephant in the room of course is the credible speculation as to certain indiscretions which have been attributed to him; I don't know if it is true, but the players & coaches no doubt do, and these things don't stay within the dressing room.

Poll: If we go up, which new striker would you like us to sign?

Quality player, with a ceiling set only really by a lack of pace. Lovely to watch on the ball.

Not really sure what issues some people have which make them react with such vitriol when he's mentioned. Not his problem.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Never rated him, always had a mistake in him, and too relaxed.

Sure he will get a move to the championship though, or high end league one.
