he's been a great journalist covering Town over the years, and the same with the rest of the EADT.

But has anyone else found the content has been overly speculative for a while now? Maybe the club has changed their relationship with the media in someway?

No, not really? How have you come to that conclusion?

The club clearly feed him info when stories get to either manage expectations or put a squash on a rumor.

Said we were not in Ueda.
Said the Emoblo report was rubbish.
Said we are locked in talks with Bayer.

The other youngsters from the EADT sometimes report on random twitter rumors but else are you going to do all off season?

I tend to agree and it’s been that was for ages

He seems to be in a very weird place right now with it all and I don’t know why but I get the impression he’s lost interest because of it ….and dealing with his counterpart Rosco bless him

I like his content but it has the opportunity to be a bit more in depth and analytical written wise because there is no one else providing that written detail on ITFC each week. I think Mark adds value on the podcast as the host, not sure about all the side kicks, they do not inspire much with their non football chat and some of them are hard to listen to on football tactics, general knowledge and their life stories. It is not that funny that a guy can’t pronouce english words on a podcast, it is all about being able to speak to the audience and convey information about a topic we all know about not for those words to need technical deciphering :)

Do you think it's been ages?
Seems much more recent to me, but maybe I wasn't looking too hard?

That's how it feels to me. Perhaps the club have tightened it up even further than they already had.

Yeah - I can't listen to their podcasts tbh.

It's really not particularly funny that someone can't pronounce English words and struggles to speak and just makes it very amateurish and awkward to listen to. The fact they play on it so much as well like it's banter, not for me.

100% agree with this! Listened to it once and found it absolutely awful. Too much ‘banter’ when they could just get on with it.

Not to mention the more international we become as a squad it’s almost becomes rather disrespectful to keep laughing about constantly mispronouncing names etc.

I think Watson needs to move on. I liked him and Andy, but it's got stale now.

Not really sure what job Andy has now, but he was smart to take it.

Surely Mark or Stu can take Ross aside and just give him some advice on talking. He's a Suffolk lad with a Suffolk accent talking to a largely Suffolk audience ... but he's difficult to listen to as he's so hyperactive and murders words with his non-enunciation. It's a tough listen at times. Nice lad, though.

When one of the so-called journos struggles to even pronounce Ipswich correctly, the credibility is instantly diminished too...

That's not Watson though, may I add. If I'm honest, I'd rather hear monologues from him than hear anything from Ross, Mark and the other young pup.

Yeah and that’s fine, I think he’s the only Ipswich fan out of the lot, so good on him.

It’s not meant to be personal but end of the day they’re PL podcasters for a media outlet and is now a paid subscription so in the interest of feedback… really don’t need to listen to a load of jumbled words in his head every other sentence.

Can’t he just do his postgame YouTube stuff and we can listen to the others and their analysis on an audio pod! I need a decent Monday morning commute Town pod of the weekend game but I struggle with it sometimes.

I feel a bit harsh saying it but the fact it seems to be a major part of their banter, means, kind of less so tbh.

Feeling the need to stick up for Stuart here. I think he’s a great journalist who I enjoy reading and listening to. Maybe it’s because that there’s so much more interest around the club these days that his more cautious approach to stories seems more noticeable.

I also really enjoy Stu, Ross,Alex and Mark on the KOA podcast. They all bring something different to the discussion and episodes are always insightful and/or entertaining in my opinion. It’s also nice not to have to skip ads halfway through. They probably shouldn’t let Ross keep saying ‘Molecular’, but that’s between them and their sponsors!

Aye, I'm with you - I think it's also important to point out, that out of all of the 'podcasts' only Kings of Anglia held Ashton to any kind of account.

Blue Monday in particular must have spent the rest of the season picking splinters out of their arse from sitting so hard on the fence. An embarrassing attempt at coverage of a very important Ipswich Town matter, they might as well not have bothered.

You need someone to tell us the difference between rumours and stories that might have legs. Stu is a very good journalist. TBH I'm pleased for him and the other EADT boys who are getting this exciting era after having to make the Jewell/McCarthy eras sound interesting.

Yes, AJ may not quite have the humour of Andy Warren but his insight is just as good, if not better.

Indeed, it is the insight that Watson, Heath and AJ bring to the party that makes them compelling listening for me.

And Ross is a pretty decent host. And when not hosting, he brings more of a fan's perspective to proceedings which is no bad thing.

Regarding the OP, I am not sure that anything has really changed given that EADT and TWTD often don't lead on things, presumably because he club keeps its cards close to its chest and people like Romano and Nixon get their info from the other club involved.

Indeed, Ross’ role isn’t the same as the other boys and the skills he does have vastly outweighs the way he finds some words and names tricky.

As others have mentioned, he’s very good at the YouTube vlogs and his hosting skills are strong - then add to the fact that he’s a town supporter t’boot and a really nice bloke.

Would he have had the role and profile he has now 20 years ago? No - but football coverage, media and journalism has changed profoundly in that time and is more accessible than ever.

I like Stuart, he's a calming presence in a world of hyperbole, old school journalist, talks well, understands the club, has good relationships with all and doesn't feel the need to be 'the first' like so many of his peers.
