Protests at Gosport along with "Danny Tommo" out in the channel slashing a dingy with a knife that had a rescue worker onboard.

https://www.theguardian.com/wo

Rather worryingly there were ~100,000 people watching a live-stream of him doing it.

At the protests on land, emergency workers were assaulted:

"Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was conducting inquiries into the boat-slashing incident. It said officers had made six arrests for offences including assaulting an emergency worker and aggravated trespass. All six people were in custody on Tuesday night."

Also good to see the false narrative about asylum seekers getting given everything they could ever want is still going strong:

"Gosport local Dave Palmer, 43, was among the protesters. “We don’t want them in the country at all. They get given everything. I work 70 to 80-hour weeks as an air-conditioning engineer. What does the government give me? Nothing,” he said."

False information like this that is perpetually circulated within echo chambers needs to be tackled as well as the actual actions at protests. That is of course easier said than done though.

In your opinion, it's not in the top 10, however some people are very concerned and the impact of illegal immigration is affecting their everyday lives. Their concerns should not just be labelled as 'far right', that's how we get such a divide in politics, when people feel like they're not listened to. Look at Piddington, publicity stunt maybe, but that is a village of concerned residents, not a group of far right nazis.

How is it actually, quantifiably, affecting everyday lives among the vast majority of the "very concerned"?

Do not underestimate the scale to which people are being misinformed and gaslit. It is a very expensive operation and it's bearing terrifying fruit.

I'd be interested to know if anyone on here is even slightly concerned about the illegal immigration aspect of the channel crossings? It's OK to bash the protestors but surely you can see that alot of people are genuinely concerned about what's going on?

Surely even the most liberal poster on here can accept that it's not sustainable and potentially dangerous considering we know literally nothing about the people coming on these boats, and even when they get here, alot of asylum claims are being mismanaged (as per Home Office whistleblower)?

I find it annoying that the "boat problem" was caused by leaving the EU, but the vast majority of immigration protesters are also anti EU, they fail completely to see that is what caused the huge rise in illegal immigration in the first place. I strongly feel that Reform/Nigel Farage need high illegal immigrant numbers to get into any form of power, and made sure that a problem that did not exist, does now.

You might be fine with it, but alot of communtiies are not overly happy about having some people chucked into their communities that don't seem to assimilate. I know people that have had their lives directly negatively impacted by illegal immigration into their community, and I don't think people should just be labelled as racists for raising genuine concerns over assimilation and the cultures that some of these people come from and the beliefs some of them hold.

It's not just to the right though is it? Politics feels alot more extreme on the left & right than what it did 10/15 years ago. The same can be said for European politics.

The high water mark for far-left influence on British politics was 1926. Today it's no way comparable to the emergence of an organised far-right in recent years. What they're attempting to create are organised paramilitary groups to intimidate entire towns and cities. It's extremely worrying and should not just be dismissed as "legitimate concerns of ordinary people".

I can agree regarding a safe route to claim asylum is needed, even though the asylum system at the moment seems to completely overwhelmed and not working as it should (again, as outed by a HO whistleblower).

That comes down to a government starved of revenue by decades of tax-cut bribes for the electorate. Or the country having too many expensive public services, depending upon one's ideological views.

I'd expect everybody who has posted is concerned, and would very much like the crossings to end. What is needed is a safe route to claim asylum in the UK to take it out of the hands of criminals, save lives, and get control of the system and who is coming here.

What is not needed is neo-Nazi thugs putting people's lives at risk and whipping up hysteria and violence against anyone who doesn't look white British.

This nails it.

Nope, it’s a distraction from the corruption, fascism and theft by people pretending to care so they can rob, beg and loot the country for al they can get.

The mismanagement of a few thousand people as you put it, is a drop in the ocean compared to the tax uncollected and subsidies paid to the elites.

Supermarkets aren’t making record profits because some fella was fleeced into getting on a dinghy so he could live in a hotel in some backwater.

The fact anyone thinks the scale of this “migrant problem” is even comparable to the real reasons we are suffering after decades of right wing shithousing is laughable and tragic. The amount of people hiding behind it because they’re dishonest, wifebeaters and worse makes it all the more bizarre.

Blokes like him need locking up as they’re a danger to the public. Not someone who will work minimum wage and do the crap jobs others won’t.

Out of interest, what do you say to people that have had their local communities impacted by illegal immigrations, such as Piddington or the village near Mildenhall which is opposing it? Should they blame billionaires and profiteering companies, or can they oppose it without being called racist and far right?

Some people in those communities who are genuinely concerned about this whole situation tend to turn to people like 'Tomo' and Tommy Robinson when they feel like they have no other alternative to voice conerns without being called all sorts of names.

But why is that the case?

- In Europe, there are 4 countries that take a higher absolute number asylum applications than the UK. Only one of these (Germany) has a bigger population that us.

- On a per-capita basis the UK isn't even in the top 10 countries in Europe for taking asylum applications (~1.5 per 1000 people compared to Greece with 5.3 per 1000 people).

Given this why is our system overwhelmed? Many other countries manage larger numbers so it looks more like awful management from successive governments rather than a structural impossibility. It should be well within the UK's remit not to be overwhelmed by the volume of applications.

Unfortunately there are plenty of sources out there pushing the narrative that we are in some way taking the lions share of this issue and it's simply not the case.

Didn't the two villages you cite previously host hundreds of fighting aged young men nearby, hence the facilities being already in place? Was there a significant impact on the local way of life then?

The problem with assimilation as a concept is that it assumes there is a point at which culture is fixed and incomers then have to conform to that. Which is largely a myth originating with 19th century German nationalists, who were trying to invent a cohesive shared identity to match their territorial dreams.

In reality, all national cultures change over time. The UK (and its predecessors) have been shaped by immigration for all time. From the language we speak to our religion, laws and diet. The whole thing works by addition, not conforming.

People do not like change. But compared with the upheaval of the early-to-mid 19th century, when the coming of railways accelerated the Indusrial Revolution, emptying the countryside as cities exploded, with mass immigration from places like Ireland, what we are witnessing now is mild.

How has Piddington had their community impacted?

There are no people at the facility, it's proposed and not even open. They have no idea what the people will be like or how it will affect them. Another poster has said they have a similar setup at their village and it doesn't affect them at all.

How much of these villages' objection to asylum centres is because of the risk of mobs turning up to cause trouble and fight the police?

The other point about assimilation is that you've got to give people time, at least a couple of generations. Can't expect people to lose the cultural distinctions from where they grew up overnight. Any more than a northerner will stop being northern the moment they move to London.

I'm not here to excuse people's racism.

Calling it "concerns" is all too often absolute b0llocks. Concerned people don't don balaclavas, dox people, beat police etc. They don't join baying mobs, wreck things and call themselves patriots.

I've lived by a migrant hotel for years, the biggest issue were bussed in dentist dodgers getting in the way and intimidating people. I've had mates who were refugees and are the soundest people I know, taught kids who have lived lives no one deserves.

If the police weren't decimated by Tory cuts, Brexit lies, and their time taken up by the great assemblies of the sex offenders register so often, then the problems you're talking about would be dealt with much easier.

All the arguments, the concerns, the propaganda around this comes down to not protecting our women and kids, but our native nonces and scumbags. There's no vigilantes for them, because too many are the vigilantes.

The fact we haven't jailed Boris et al for the damage they've wreaked on this country, and people still defend them or run with the chaos those Tory governments unleashed is no small irony.

Putting up flags and placards instead of volunteering and getting involved in their communities is the perfect illustration of the hypocrisy of these people and who's leading them towards hate and more misery.

So I'd say to them if they care about their communities so much what are they doing to help? And I bet the answer is nothing productive all too often.

The people in Piddington haven't been affected by it, it's just currently a plan to move people there.

I'd imagine, more worryingly, most of those who go to the barracks outside Piddington will scarper because they don't want to hang around in a village with buggar all to do there, they aren't going to terrorise the village, they are going to Foztrot Oscar to who knows where
