| More trouble in Hampshire 07:52 - Sep 23 with 8352 views | StokieBlue | Protests at Gosport along with "Danny Tommo" out in the channel slashing a dingy with a knife that had a rescue worker onboard. https://www.theguardian.com/wo Rather worryingly there were ~100,000 people watching a live-stream of him doing it. At the protests on land, emergency workers were assaulted: "Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it was conducting inquiries into the boat-slashing incident. It said officers had made six arrests for offences including assaulting an emergency worker and aggravated trespass. All six people were in custody on Tuesday night." Also good to see the false narrative about asylum seekers getting given everything they could ever want is still going strong: "Gosport local Dave Palmer, 43, was among the protesters. “We don’t want them in the country at all. They get given everything. I work 70 to 80-hour weeks as an air-conditioning engineer. What does the government give me? Nothing,” he said." False information like this that is perpetually circulated within echo chambers needs to be tackled as well as the actual actions at protests. That is of course easier said than done though. SB | |

| More trouble in Hampshire on 08:09 - Sep 23 with 3598 views | Steve_M | The complete absence of government and police action against Thomas's very public crimes over recent weeks is an actual disgrace. Burnham is repeating Starmer's failings in not using the office of Prime Minister to push back against fascism and Mahmood seems not to know that policing is as much a part of the Home Secretary's job as immigration. And, yeah, I'm sure that bloke works as many hours as he claims and still ahs time to be a co ont outside of that. This Bluesky thread is also very good reporting: Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics.
A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat. — Emma Yeomans (@yeomans.bsky.social) 2026-09-22T17:43:06.269Z

Agree with all of this. Just really blatant non policing of an issue that needed to be nipped in the bud. Grannies with signs though......

He's likely to be in jail for a long time as he slashed a small boat with a knife that had a French rescuer on board. And the best bit, is he recorded it himself...

Out of curiosity - logistically, who has jurisdiction here? Is the channel half ours half there’s so it depends what side it occurred as to who can take him task? That sounds like a stupid question I realise. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

He'd love it if the government gave him a bed in a dilapidated shed on some old military base (or sharing with three others in a basic motel room), plus a few quid to cover his bare necessities, with no prospect of the situation being sotrted for many months, instead of whatever he's earning from his alleged 70-80 hour working week.

It's a 12 nautical mile (13.8 mile) limit of jurisdiction, except where the Channel is narrower than 27.6 miles (whereupon it's approximately half). Altho the UK and France have mutual extradition treaties to deal with people accused of offences in the other. Outside of territorial waters, international (and UK) laws covering piracy on the high seas might apply. [Post edited 23 Sep 9:25]

That's basically a 12 hour day, 7 days a week. Such obvious nonsense.

Given that violence was the trigger for banning Palestine Action, I wonder if there might be wider legal consequences for his movement too.

It's OK to bash the protestors but surely you can see that alot of people are genuinely concerned about what's going on? Surely even the most liberal poster on here can accept that it's not sustainable and potentially dangerous considering we know literally nothing about the people coming on these boats, and even when they get here, alot of asylum claims are being mismanaged (as per Home Office whistleblower)?

I'd expect everybody who has posted is concerned, and would very much like the crossings to end. What is needed is a safe route to claim asylum in the UK to take it out of the hands of criminals, save lives, and get control of the system and who is coming here. What is not needed is neo-Nazi thugs putting people's lives at risk and whipping up hysteria and violence against anyone who doesn't look white British.

I don't think it is even in the top 10 biggest problems affecting this country. A lot of the "concerns" come from people having their brains absolutely melted by Facebook and other such hotbeds of misinformation. And that is a tragedy, nothing less. [Post edited 23 Sep 9:38]

It's not just to the right though is it? Politics feels alot more extreme on the left & right than what it did 10/15 years ago. The same can be said for European politics.

In your opinion, it's not in the top 10, however some people are very concerned and the impact of illegal immigration is affecting their everyday lives. Their concerns should not just be labelled as 'far right', that's how we get such a divide in politics, when people feel like they're not listened to. Look at Piddington, publicity stunt maybe, but that is a village of concerned residents, not a group of far right nazis.

Nope, it’s a distraction from the corruption, fascism and theft by people pretending to care so they can rob, beg and loot the country for al they can get. The mismanagement of a few thousand people as you put it, is a drop in the ocean compared to the tax uncollected and subsidies paid to the elites. Supermarkets aren’t making record profits because some fella was fleeced into getting on a dinghy so he could live in a hotel in some backwater. The fact anyone thinks the scale of this “migrant problem” is even comparable to the real reasons we are suffering after decades of right wing shithousing is laughable and tragic. The amount of people hiding behind it because they’re dishonest, wifebeaters and worse makes it all the more bizarre. Blokes like him need locking up as they’re a danger to the public. Not someone who will work minimum wage and do the crap jobs others won’t.

I can agree regarding a safe route to claim asylum is needed, even though the asylum system at the moment seems to completely overwhelmed and not working as it should (again, as outed by a HO whistleblower).

I’d like to see a sensible immigration system that resulted in people not risking their lives on small boat crossings. What do you think of racists patrolling the seas and atttacking other vessels, abusing the rnli, visiting youth cricket tours, and balaclavaing up to block up our ports?

Yes, it is a matter of concern. But I want it dealt with through stong agreements with our neighbours, plus an effective and well-funded process for dealing with those intercepted. Attempting to deal with some of the underlying crises causing mass migration would be good, too. I am quite happy to give asylum to genuine refugees. Plus I am well aware that illegal boat crossings form a small minority of total UK immigration. What I do not want is mobs saying they act in my name attacking the police, coastguard or the RNLI for doing their jobs. Nor do I want some bloke taking the law into his own hands with performative stunts. Nobody voted for "Danny Tommo".
