That's a good one and I wouldn't laugh it off personally.

Me neither. Was downplaying it a bit because of the way this forum can be.

The most common claimed experiences seem to be with the greys but a lot of people suggest they are under the control of Reptilians and Nordics. There is a small part of me that thinks what are the chances...reptiles/dinosaurs were here long before us and were wiped out...apparently. The Nazis were obsessed with space and made huge advances with lots of their scientists moving over to the US when the war ended. Then we have the blonde blue eyed Nordics.

It's such a fascinating subject. There is a fascinating story of one man who had an experience where he saw Ironman or something like that and then later under hypnotherapy he saw what it really was. That made me look back on something from my childhood when I saw this fooker walk through my bedroom

I realise in just a couple of posts I now seem completely unhinged

Can't see the post you're replying to but we know more about the surface of the moon than we do our oceans.

There are also a lot of stories of underwater bases etc.

I’m a cynic, government keeping people in fear is good for them. Maybe another effort to push digital ID, stop protests, or other authoritarian ideas. Maybe they are scared from the riots in Europe - I’ve not seen such hysteria from other governments.

Certainly not going to lose any sleep, or stock up on baked beans and bog roll.

Its not hysteria, and its perfectly common in other countries. In fact such initiatives have been much more high profile than ours in other European and NATO nations.

Sweden sent a booklet to every household in 2024 for their 'in case of crisis' initiative, Denmark issued a digital version. Norway updated its 'emergency preparedness' programme last year. Ireland, France, Germany, just about every country in Europe has over the last couple of years to differing degrees.

Its just basic advice, like having an ability to eat, drink, stay warm and safe in the event of an emergency situation. With climate change, Putin, Trump, AI, cyber attacks, terrorism, and a general clusterfeck of a planet everywhere you look its probably not the worst advice in the world to be a bit proactive about it and take some personal responsibility.

That’s all fair enough and happy to accept that. I guess my scepticism came from all this Government’s previous authoritarian policies (digital ID, clamping down on legitimate protests, jury trials, cancelled elections etc). Though I accept this was all under Starmer, it does always make one wary of their motives.

Agree.

I will likely just get some batteries, a torch or two and some water. Always got plenty of tins and dried foods in anyway.

It's a small affordable outlay for most people and if every household can survive a minimum of three days it buys the emergency services some time.

I'm not really being serious.

However if you think about it logically, it's not impossible that a second intelligent animal evolved on the Earth, probably in the oceans given they cover 70% of the planet and most of the UAP's seem to go in and out of the ocean so it's not totally nonsensical even if I'm not being serious.

It's not that much more unlikely than aliens traversing vast distances to get to this planet.

Stingray was an excellent programme.

A defence minister pushing the need for vigiance is like a transport minister pushing the use of trains.
But if he does it too much it could be his Edwina Curry moment.
If we are so third world that we have to rely on wind up radios things are really grim.

If you want an out there (literally) idea...there has been a lot of noise in the UFO/alien interest community about 2027. It has persisted for years and years.

I don't believe it, just throwing it out there.

On a side note...anyone who has been interested in this stuff, isn't it fascinating how the language has changed over the last five years or so*. Like they are narrowing down some of the things we don't understand...

If you're wondering how something so unlikely could manifest in the real world, the vice president of the most powerful country on Earth believes they are demons rather than aliens. Countless whistle-blowers (just a term, don't get excited. They are probably mainly loons looking to cash in) have said the truth is not something humanity can handle.

*UFOs have become Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon. Aliens/ETs have become Non Human Intelligence. It's fascinating even if it is one massive work of fiction.

If you want more of that, The Lovecraft Investigations podcast on BBC Sounds is a cracking bit of interlaced myth and horror fiction and conspiracy linked in with real history. Thoroughly enjoyable while it lasts.

I've got torches and fire wood and the like anyway, and generally have food in the house at all times, I'm sure most people do anyway. I never buy bottled water in this country tbh, I never have. Probably isn't a bad idea to have a stash though, as you say the worst that can happen is you never drink it and you've wasted £2.

Its really not unthinkable that people could be without power for a few days and snowed in, or flooded in or whatever, even without more sinister causes.

It goes very deep, too many people know and have had the same experiences for decades.

Could be fish people as well as aliens.

It's also not "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" anymore, it's "Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena" as most seem to be in the oceans now.

A friend of mine has sent me bits on this over the last few years, essentially saying how they are drip feeding humanity info on it, let us get used to the idea slowly so when it’s all disclosed, we just shrug it off.

Taking of UFOs, I took a photo two years ago, randomly noticed a UFO like object in the background. Left it. Then a few months ago read an article about Russia operating a shadow fleet near me that was launching drones at the same time I had taken the photo, told the MOD and had to send them the photo and give a statement.

I hope UFOs haven’t been Russia all along 😂

Some 'Bigfoot' sightings in the n. of the N. American continent were shown to be Grizzly or Black bears viewed in profile when upright.

On the other hand, some dinosaur DNA was found in the gut of a very large fish or eel in thar area (sorry, can't remember details).

'Then there was the (in)famous case of the 'Enfield poltergeist'. Some of the events in that were admitted to be hoaxes, but there's no explaining some other of them (how does a 12-year old girl send an iron bedstead flying through the air etc.).

I must admit my entire worldview has changed. I don't believe anything specific but I believe there is a huge amount we don't know. There's a hell of a lot of smoke. Maybe there is no fire but I am open minded.

That scepticism sounds like a case of a little too much internetting to me.

Having basic supplies available in the event of power failure etc is something parts of this country have been doing forever. It's common sense but the extent to which some people are reacting (as usual) is over the top.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Already have an emergency box which includes a LW radio, water filters, solar charger, and long life food. Doesn't cost much tbh. Oh, and cash in the safe.

All good to have. Although the solar chargers are rubbish no matter how much you spend on them. You need the light intensity and then it can take days to charge even a phone up. I have water filter straws, very good things, will filtrate upto 5000l or more depending on what you get. 5000l probably lasts an adult for years. I also have 20 litre plastic cans(always go for dark colours as clear helps produce algae really quick) and purification tablets, one tablet does 20 litres, very handy to have by you. Water is what you need most, it’s way more important than food as we all know. And yes, I’ve had a bug out bag ready for years, maybe Im a bit mad. By the way, I think it will be banks that get hit,so hard cash is what you need to get by, keep a stash somewhere.

Dealers always have loads of cash.
Could it be that they will become the saviours of us all?

I used to be a taxi driver and dealers, along with supermarket workers and care home workers kept a roof over my head during the lockdown of Covid.
