| Diop’s foul…Christ ref 22:09 - Oct 23 with 3940 views | TresBonne | Ok I put up a post on here last week saying I couldn’t believe the Leif foul wasn’t given at Citeh. Jesus Christ, the Diop one. How did the referee not give that as a foul originally? Genuine beggars belief, I actually cannot see what he was thinking happened there. He was soft all night but that is something else. | |

| Diop’s foul…Christ ref on 22:12 - Oct 23 with 3145 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I think that is why VAR reviewed it because it was such a clear foul. They should never have reviewed it though because there is no way it was ever a red card. | |

| Diop’s foul…Christ ref on 22:16 - Oct 23 with 3092 views | Nutkins_Return | I agree. The only slight defence was the tackle genuinely didn't get him and it was almost his body getting up that gets him. It's so clearly a foul though. And if given straight away its a more clear and easy yellow card. The fact he doesn't give it and VAR gets involved nearly cost us but in the end it's the right decision. He wasn't going to score. I think Walton might have got him or Leif is quicker. Ref was really weak tonight. | |

| Diop’s foul…Christ ref on 22:18 - Oct 23 with 3048 views | Scuzzer | Not sure what the rulings there are for VAR...but didn't know they were there to issue free kicks in retrospect. But i do think the ref got it correct in the end. Leif was there and the ball was going wide with our keeper possibly going to close it down. After that the ref was definitely trying to win the favour of Forest with some of the bizarre decisions he did and didn't give. | |

I was screaming that he has to let Enciso play on with the popped ball. Doesn't make me right. The decision was right in my opinion but obviously any fan of the other team is screaming for it.

| Diop’s foul…Christ ref on 22:26 - Oct 23 with 2909 views | TresBonne | I do wonder if that was a bit of an example of over reliance on VAR, as in the ref wasn’t sure about the red so he let play go on and get the VAR to have a look at it for a red? Then if anyone can shed some light on the fact he brought it back for a free kick and a yellow please do. I didn’t know they could do that? Certainly can’t recall it happening before. Ref made some utterly bizarre calls all night. As for our balls, WTF? Don’t think I’ve ever seen the ball have to get replaced twice either. | |

We were wondering what would have happened if we'd scored in the meantime? I haven't watched it back but there was a lot of play between the challenge and the VAR intervention. It was a clear foul and a yellow in open play but definitely not a red. Very bizarre passage of play.

| Diop’s foul…Christ ref on 23:24 - Oct 23 with 2606 views | Dubtractor | I thought the ref was really poor all night to be honest, seemed to give a lot of soft free kicks to them, as as you say it was an inexplicable decision to not give a foul and yellow in real time to Diop. | |

Seemed an obviously blatant freekick/ yellow card from my perch, how the ref does not see it is crazy. Inept. People around me were laughing at the decision to keep on playing, I was laughing too.
| Diop’s foul…Christ ref on 01:11 - Oct 24 with 2299 views | FlittonBlue | Numerous refs seem to be too scared these days and are happy to wait for VAR to tell them what they should have done. Get the feeling some of them try to keep their head down and not be the story - tonight the non-decision made the ref the story | |

| Diop’s foul…Christ ref on 01:55 - Oct 24 with 2224 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | I’m obviously honest with my assessments when it comes to bias, like the Maeda one against Fulham I thought was a true 50/50 not a nailed on. However, tonight that was not a red. He might get a shot off at an angle, Davis likely blocks it anyway. Bold and correct decision upon review, clear goal sorting opportunity is not just a shot in the box, he wasn’t clean through. | |

Yep but the notion it’s a definite red is also nonense isn’t it. People seem to be confused between a foul and a sending off just because it’s gone to review.

It definitely wasn't a red card challenge and the VAR review wasn't for the challenge it was for a DOGSO. Happily the ref didn't see it as one. I think that was right, ball was running away from McAtee to Walton and Leif was covering.

Very true but Delap's two fouls in 30 seconds should have been yellow and when he ripped O'Shea's shirt off there's a red. So all fair in my book.

| Diop’s foul…Christ ref on 09:21 - Oct 24 with 1779 views | franz_tyson | I thought it was a definite red. Not getting into the details of who was covering, but it looked out of control and dangerous. He scythed him and took him out. We always get told that tackles which are out of control will be punished. Just looked a red. | | | |

Hardly a scythe, he slid past him and McAtee went over him. He didn't endanger the opponent so for me, the type of challenge definitely didn't warrant a red. VAR agreed as that wasn't what they checked for. What's baffling is the ref didn't even see it as a foul.

This. I’m delighted it wasn’t given, but would have been furious if this had been Forest. Anyone who thinks that wasn’t a red is clearly wearing the blue tinted specs! We need to accept we got away with that big time.

Yeah, in no way was that dangerous, he's slid in but his feet were down and McAtee makes contact with his body, not his legs. Foolish for sure as it could have been a red quite easily but right decision in the end.

Wasn't a scythe at all, he was about a metre in front of mcatee, who then went over Diop's body. 100% it was a foul, and a booking, but not a red imo.

it was right for VAR to review a possible red card and the decision was correct because Davis was goal side. There is nothing in the rules that permits a referee to issue a yellow card for an incident where neither the referee, or his assistant blew, or flagged for a foul. Add in the failure to penalise Delap suspect the referee gets a week and isn’t involved in next weekend’s fixtures.

If he'd given a red I don't think var would have queried it. I can understand arguments for why a yellow was finally shown but in real time it certainly looked like a sending off. What I don't get is how the ref failed to even give a foul, it was so obviously a foul that there can't be any excuse for not calling it. The yellow / red debate is less clear and I can see cases for either.

Totally disagree. The ref made a few mistakes (don't they all) but while he let a lot go i.e. didn't reach for his whistle every time someone fell over, and as a result the game really flowed and was a good spectacle.
