Slept on it and I actually think it's even more outrageous 10:33 - Nov 1 with 2367 viewsjasondozzell

That we'd rather pick holes in mistakes than go nuts about Enciso's goal yesterday!

What a goal. He's our player! We have world class players like him playing for us!

Can't stop watching the goal back.

Yes of course we want to stay up, but can we not let the modern sports optimisation spreadsheet nonsense with it's obsession with cold clinical appraisal suck the life out of actually enjoying supporting this team?

We went through entire seasons without any sort of moment like that.

Also it's doubly outrageous that neither him or Palacios have a proper song.

This is Dreamland and lots of us are moping about and dare I say it seemingly getting more pleasure from watching the free kick back to moan about Walton rather than celebrating a wonder goal.

Watch the goal back again this morning and it'll put you in a good mood!

I'd also like to point out Matusiwa's role in that goal. He pulls his player away leaving a massive amount of space for Enciso, who made the absolute most of it. Great goal.

Great spot!

Good old Azor. Hope he gets more game time.

Me and the mate i was watching with had a proper jump up and run around the room celebration for it.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Brilliant!

It was one of those wasn't it.

I love how he plays. You can tell he loves the game.

It was a fantastic strike, no doubt about it, and saved us in the game really.

It was also a brilliant game of football all round, it should be said.

Yep it's barely getting a mention – human nature partly, and also the characteristics of an unhappy social media-driven society where everything remotely imperfect has to be nit-picked to the bone.

Should have won yesterday and the concessions were very frustrating – but it was a better result for us than for Hull and I know which of the two sides I think will have a better season.

Is everything really nit-picked to the bone though? And is it nit-picked or nitpicked?

You can do both though. Celebrate two fantastic goals and a brilliant performance, particularly in the first half. But also rue the fact that we had 3 points in our grasp, but let it slip through two substandard defensive mistakes for which we were punished.

Pretty much what GON said in his post-match comments.

It was lovely

But staying up is required and to be the first side to take the lead at Hull. We ended up needing a worldie to take a point from a game we were winning.

I did enjoy watching the game and this season is a lot more enjoyable to watch than 2024.

But id rather lose some enjoyment if it meant 3 points.

I think we have the wrong team balance. Everyone apart from Walton, Diop, O'Shea and possibly Ouattara are attack-minded. No one is doing enough of the dirty work or being effective doing so. When we have the ball we are fine, but not so good out of possession. I urge O'Neill to study how teams compress the pitch enough to be able to position themselves so they look like they hunt in small groups to get the ball back. Both Hull and ourselves were so poor at it. Possession football is not just about having the ball, it is about gaining possession. We are possibly too purist in our approach.

Said it before and I’ll say it again, to the darts theme tune chase the sun.

‘De de de de de, de de de de, de de de de de Enciso’

Will catch and no one can possibly get it wrong.

Don’t think it’s a modern phenomenon tbh. I was about 10 - 14 during those Burley playoff years and finishing 5th in the premier league, and remember being in the pub with my dad and his mates after games hearing how shit Scowcroft was.

The fact we were in L1 5 years ago and what not doesn’t mean people can’t share observations in the here and now, whether good, bad or indifferent. People can appreciate Palacios, Ouattara & Enciso’s performances yesterday and how for 45 minutes we were in an away premier league game looking like a top side. It was beautiful to see. I do find it a tiresome narrative that because we were shit 5 years ago we can’t be critical of anything or anyone today. It’s a small time mentality, and thankfully not one that’ll be shared by those inside the club. We need to think like a premier league club, we’re here on merit and not just passing through. It’s OK to call a spade a spade when we give away poor goals.

My takeaway from yesterday was that we had the minerals to get a draw and could have even won, the game.

Your rainbows and unicorns stance is admirable, but were you so optimistic and giddy during the Evans years?

Genuine question.

And lots of whingeing that we didn't beat a "really poor Hull team" yesterday. They beat Man U at home & 3 other teams, all above us in the League, have failed to win at Hull.

About the team often, but about the state of the club, no. See 'Reflections on Lambert and state of club' etc.

Absolutely!

They showed resilience and played well second half.

This league is brutal. There are no easy games.

Stop telling people what to post, especially when most posters are posting balanced threads about everything good and bad. Thats not how a football message board works even if you want it to be just what you put out.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?
