I'd originally assumed he was on £20k a week or so (the mid Serie A clubs don't pay anywhere near Premier League money), which would be £1m a year and that for life, they'd be paying him until football retirement age, say another 9 years to take him up to 40. (Around £9m)
I didn't think they'd be paying him £50k a week, every week, until 65 retirement age or 81 as the average age of death or whatever.
I can see they are going to honour the contract he was due to sign, so if it is a 4 year deal at the 45k a week you mention, it'll come out at near the £9m anyway. | |

I didn't post it because I didn't want to look like a dick but I thought this was OTT when I read it yesterday and couldn't be true. Honouring the contract he was going to sign is a much more suitable gesture and really good of them to do it.
He was 31 and this contract was going to keep him there for the rest of his career so I assume it was a 3-4 year deal on £10-20k a week. He wouldn't have been on Premier League wages. |  |
