Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? 14:04 - Apr 25 with 2753 views | GlasgowBlue | Just got back from a quick run and it was like a normal Saturday with cars on the road.

Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? on 14:20 - Apr 25 with 2081 views | Lord_Lucan | It's been increasing over the last week or so. I went to Aldi today and despite a new clearer system with arrows and chevrons some people were still ignoring it all. I feel very sorry for the staff in these places. Mind you the signs were very clear about keeping 2m from other customers and staff but some of their staff were ignoring it as well.

Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? on 14:27 - Apr 25 with 2056 views | azuremerlangus | Not quite as back as a normal Saturday on the south coast but there is definitely more traffic/people about than last Saturday. I get the feeling there is a gradual "drift" towards normal business whilst still observing (by most anyway) the 2M rule.

Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? on 14:32 - Apr 25 with 2045 views | ElephantintheRoom | It's saturday.... quite a lot of people are still working and its a chance to get out and do that essential shopping or assist where needed. Other people have run out of money and are doing a bit of moonlighting Add in the encouragement from floundering politicians that its ok to go to B&Q and McDonalds etc - little treats that would have killed us all a week ago and its not entirely surprising that more people are going out and about.

Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? on 15:07 - Apr 25 with 1961 views | StokieBlue | Lots more people out and about now and not really that much different to a normal Saturday. People walking two or three abreast on paths without any regard for distancing or people going the other way. 2m also seems to be a thing of the past in queues. I think it might be getting to the point where it doesn't really matter if the government say it's a lockdown or not in some places. Obviously this is all anecdotal to this one specific area. SB

Lockdown and distancing appears to continue to be well observed in my hood, exceptions exists clearly, I did see a bunch of younguns with a barbie on the beach when out for a run on thurs. Predominately though, everyone out is giving each other a lot of space.

I had to go into Ipswich town center today to deposit a cheque. Must say i was surprised how many people were walking about. Mind you I have no reference for recent levels as it’s the first time I’ve been into town since the last home match.

There is a big US community in West Suffolk for the bases. I think the bases are just carrying on so the majority of the traffic is military. [Post edited 25 Apr 2020 15:46]

Yep still being observed pretty well here in Crystal Palace.

Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? on 15:39 - Apr 25 with 1850 views | Ace_High1 | There are a lot more noises about relaxing and be back to "normal". Notice in the week B&Q, Taylor Wimpey etc all re-opening and by start of May I think many businesses will be re-opening and ramping up, even on reduced capacity. But as this happens a side affect will be people thinking the situation is less severe and they will start venturing out.

Problem with that message is the expression on his face does not match the words. I had heard this. Did my usual trip to the greengrocers and then Morrisons today. Had to pop to the cashpoint and pay in some cheques too so was a little later at the supermarket. Everywhere seemed about the same until I got to the supermarket. The car park was much more full but there was no queue to go in. Also no queue to pay which there was about 4 weeks ago (time before last that I went). However, in store some staff were not keeping their distance from each other. The odd customer (as always) seemed to think 2 m was a lot less distance than I do. There were also 3 men who appeared to be more senior staff stood as a triangle around one end of an aisle having a meeting complaining that they were not letting more customers in and that the queue to come in was too long. When I left it was the length of the store front and a little bit further. Difficult to say but my own experience is not that anywhere around here has been significantly busier than my few observations of the past few weeks. EDIT: However, my wife has been told the factory she works in will reopen on the 4 May. [Post edited 25 Apr 2020 15:41]

Yes a few are making early moves. Some airline has been talking about opening routes out of Luton. Problem there is the need to go to Luton. I have been buying media space for Q3 and 4 this week, which is dirt cheap presently with the number of brands not investing in marketing, but suspect it’ll ramp up again pretty soon.

768 people died of Covid19 yesterday and 813 today in the UK, not sure now is the time to give up on staying safe and limiting journeys.
Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? on 15:54 - Apr 25 with 1790 views | jas0999 | Yes, as someone who is key essential and travelling to the office three or four days a week, this week has been much much busier on the roads. Lots of construction workers/companies have returned.

Indeed. Presumably many of those now dying have been infected since lockdown began as well. I must admit I find the media attention on wanting details of how we exit lockdown somewhat premature and potentially counterproductive.
Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? on 16:13 - Apr 25 with 1723 views | BanksterDebtSlave | So much about our response to this doesn't really add up.....unless it is a planned series of ease...restrict....ease....restrict and I can't see that panning out well. Back to outraged Twitter feeds about people crammed on trains.

Totally agree. I've questioned if people are consciously doing it or just going back to their old routines. I've not driven my car since lockdown. I ride my bike or jog for fresh air or walk to the local shop for supplies. [Post edited 25 Apr 2020 16:14]

Agree. Timing is key. I guess people are asking because philosophically the original intention of lockdown was to flatten the curve and avoid the NHS being totally overwhelmed by covid. The Government have been losing the battle on testing. As we get towards mid Summer and the assumed end of the furlough scheme, it does became important if we are to avoid a worst case scenario recession.

Anyone notice there are more cars on the road? on 18:39 - Apr 25 with 1546 views | ghostofescobar | Definitely. I live in Hertford and a month ago the roads were like zombie apocalypse time: hardly any cars at all. Now, seems much closer to normal. What is everyone doing? Where are they going? Don’t get it.

It suggests the concerns about lockdown starting too early were well placed?
