Agree the international travel issue is the biggest in my view and particularly the atletico fans at Liverpool which we all found barmy at the time even. There was even precedent for that with juve fans being allowed to travel to Lyon on 26 Feb so I’m sure the Italian government must be getting it as well.

This website has a nice map showing population density but the table above it is weird. It shows "Paris" is the most densely populated region in Europe and the divides London into boroughs which are roughly half the density by square km.
But it possibly shows that the density argument isn't at all what people think it is. I feel like there's this assumption that London is millions of people all sat on top of each other and Britain had other big cities which must be the same in people's heads.

Looks as if Belgium correlates in terms of death rate with a high urban density, although i have to say i wasn't thinking about it in terms of any urban/rural split tbh. The other thing that sets us out apart i would say is that compared to france/italy/spain in particular, distances between urban areas are just much smaller. England as distinct from the UK as a whole just hasn't got any sizeable 'remote' areas anymore. Overall i just can't see how density can be dismissed any more than overall population size. | | | |
