Your starting 11 next season. 20:17 - Jul 3 with 2731 viewsOwainG1992

Now this is what you want.
Don't worry about budgets etc just in your opinion the starting 11 you wish to see.

For me it's 4-3-3

Holy
KVY
Woolf
Chambers
New left back or Nydam

Downes
Dozell
Dobra just ahead.

Lankaster RW
Norwood central
Garbutt LW if we sign him

Poll: Apologies I'm bored. How many signings will we have by Plymouth at home.

This is about as good as we would get, that 3 in behind fully fit would add some real missed flair and creativity to this team.

From the current team:

Holy
KVY – Chambo – Woolf – Nydam
–––– Downes – Huws ––––––
Lankester –– El Miz –– Dobra
––––––– Norwood ––––––

–––––Neuer–––––
Ramos Ligt Dijk Marcelo
––––––Skuse–––––
––Modric–––Hazard––
Messi––Mbappe––Ronaldo

Evans needs to pull his finger out. At least we’ve tied down the linchpin in midfield.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Only real problem with it is that we can’t really go 4-4-2 or any other formation that easily without making subs. However for me it gives us pace out wide and 3 players who will run at players and take them on.

I think there is versatility there. 4-3-3 would be simple, with El Mizouni dropping in alongside Huws/Downes.

I don’t think a standard 4-4-2 would work no, but a variant similar to Southampton would (4-2-2-2) with 2 no.10’s instead of winger, Lankester/Norwood as a front two.

Basically the squad we’d need to get promoted under Lambert...

I find it strange that the first three line-ups in this thread contain such as Dozzell, lankester, Dobra, Mizouni and Garbutt - either long-term injured, yet unproven, and one that we don't own - but no place for Jackson who had a hand in 18 goals in a low-scoring side.

I would take Jackson over Norwood if I was picking 4-2-3-1 to be honest.

The experienced centre half based locally that we would be mad not to sign.

He’s played more football for us in wise roles than up top mate, Lankaster would ultimately grab that position if he can get fit.

Yeah, I was thinking that too.

Arguably him and Downes were our best and most effective players last season.

I don’t think ( and am happy to be proved very very wrong ) that he can play as a lone striker and he’s not good enough on the ball to play as a winger/wide striker. If we play 2 up front he gets in!

Agreed re: a lone striker. But as a wide forward I think he's really been pretty good.

Puts emphasis on his partner up front being effective, which Norwood or Keane rarely were. But, unless we can see more from Norwood or another striker through the middle, I think it points to a 3-man attack. I'd have no problem with Jackson Norwood Lankester/Edwards/Sears/Dobra/El Mizouni etc. frontline.

On a related note, I'd also like to see Morris, Folami and Simpson in the mix. The first two certainly have had their ITFC careers stalled over the past couple of years while we haven't really got much out of our attack in that time.

It’s easy to forget Morris and Folami considering the injuries they’ve had, they are certainly further ahead development wise to Simpson, that said Simpson offers the big physical presence we’ve missed from our strikers.

We do have some good options out wide for a change.....if they can stay fit!
