Because Mid Suffolk had one of, if not the lowest, rates of infection in the whole country?

Germany have extended their version of tier 3 to the entire country until the 20th December. Tier 2 or tier 3 is needed basically everywhere otherwise the infections will be on the rise again right at the point we don't want them to be - the point where the government have said people can meet at Christmas. I see lots of scientists have asked to see the advise given to the government by SAGE for the Christmas opening because they simply don't believe SAGE advised to have any opening up over that period. So we're locking ourselves down for a half-baked Christmas. Devastating both mentally and economically.

Whether they did or not, it’s getting to a point where more and more people will ignore it anyway. This is one thing they got right early on, when they said they feared the public would tire of the restrictions and not listen.

I've not said that, judging by countries like Germany who have handled this better than us we should be tier 3 everywhere and making decisions on Christmas closer to the date when more information is known with the very real possibility of not allowing households to mix. What do you want to happen? SB

Yet people don't seem to ignore it as much in other countries. Perhaps something to reflect on as a nation. SB

It does seem mental that we are going to be under stricter conditions until about March just to allow for a few days at Xmas

It's absolutely ridiculous. Why are we putting ourselves under 3-4 months of depressing restrictions for the sake of a few sodding days?!
