I know we're all shocked/dissapointed about O'neil's comments 12:21 - Dec 1 with 1581 viewsboroughblue

But could we really expect him to say anything else in public? just a thought

although I agree, if that really is the case, then we really are in trouble...

The optimist in me wonders if there is some sort of break clause coming up and it’s just a little too early to act. Somewhere around Christmas-new year would be the most likely time for a mid season break clause as it would give the new man the transfer window to do some business. Maybe Lambert knows it as well? It will be interesting to see his behaviour over the coming month. If we see increasingly erratic team selections and outright hostility towards the fans then we might be able to start to wonder if he’s looking for the break clause pay off.

The realist in me is laughing at the optimist.

Truly impaired.

Imagine having a contract with no break clauses in it though and making the club financially responsible for breaking it early, without any onus on the manager having to meet any targets.

Was Evans really that desperate to just give anyone the job that he has agreed to that sort of deal, so he could walk away for 5 years expecting our team to go up and for the fans to be happy without giving it any real thought other?

Absolute shambles. Evans is a total joke of an owner.

As my mum would say “if you haven’t got anything sensible to say, say nothing at all.”

O’Neill might want to take note.

Hopefully we aren't waiting on a clause that needs promotion to be 'mathematically impossible'...

Or one that doesn't specify from which division.

As long as the club don't expect us to act any differently. They don't accept our outrage, we don't accept the way they're operating.

If they want our custom, value us - and stop using our memories and nostalgia against us to tug on the hear strings for stupid slogans that mean nothing

"New Era" "One of our own" and various other hijacked slogans to sell us season tickets.

I don't want to see the club die, so not financially supporting it feels awful. However, it is clear to me that for all we spend - they still keep gutting the club with p*** poor management and ill conceived decisions.

I love ITFC, but the owner has mutated the club into something else and something that is becoming impossible to support.

I'm not shocked in the slightest. Evans is super cautious and we're 6th. It would be out of character for him to sack Lambert now. We've got Oxford, Plymouth and Burton coming up in the next 4 too. A couple of wins there and he'll be hoping that we're back on track.

You may well be right, but if you are, then Evans is an even bigger cretin than we've given him credit for. Lambert's record here is abysmal and has been for two years now. Another 4 games isn't going to make a shred of difference. It's also clear from all the noises coming out of the club and the shenanigans over recent weeks (hamgate, henrygate etc) that the management team are rapidly becoming a basket case and bunker mentality has set in. We're at the point of no return.

If Evans doesn't pull his socks up rapidly, things are going to get toxic in a way he has never previously experienced. All the frustrations of last season and the season before have been deferred up until now. I feel a tipping point is rapidly approaching.

Let’s be honest with this injury situation we were never going to keep the form going and I’m pretty sure ME and co would take that into consideration.

I suppose it's not impossible that you'd write in a 12-month in break clause. Seems a little arbitrary though.

But our fitness coach has left (internal disagreements - well there's a surprise), and there are **no plans to replace him** - wtf?! How can you have a "fitness coach" working on a "consultancy basis" from 400 miles away??!

This to me is just as desperate a situation, if not more so, than PL continuing as our manager - when will ME do something about it - when we can't even put out a team of 11 fit players for league games?!

I'm not knowledgeable about non-league teams, but I imagine that even amateur clubs have some kind of fitness coach within local driving distance!

And why, oh why, would you give any manager a 5 year contract? It's almost as tho ME actually wants to run ITFC into the ground. I'm sure he doesn't really, but that's how it's starting to come across even to good-ol-usually-optimistic me!

The thing about a decent manager is they can set up even quite a limited side to be competitive.

We'll find out in Jan if he has a break clause in his 5 yr contract but I doubt it

As others have said. I imagine that ME is waiting on the injury situation to clear up before there are any clear decisions. Peterborough and Sunderland at the end of Jan will be key.

But the line for me is, “He’s aware of that and fully supportive in trying to help the football club get back to the better times.”.

If thats true, rather than spin, then we need to supplement the squad in January, especially in the wide positions and up top and ultimately, that is going to mean moving players out too, else I don't understand how he is going to 'help'
