Well if there were an Olympics on here for people posting guff on subjects they clearly know absolutely nothing about, you'd be in gold medal position right now.
Try learning to ride (including jumping) and then get back to me. £100 to the charity of your choice if you still think the same.

I like the skateboarding but it does seem tame compared to the X-games, Jackass tomfoolery and the Tony Hawk games.
For me, it's the sailing events - as good as we are at them, they're just not spectator sports. |  |

Except that with disciplines like dressage, it's all about how the rider controls the horse in a series of very precise maneuvers.
With jumping, there's the matter of making the right trigger movements at the right time to get the horse to jump over the obstacle and clear it. If left to itself, the animal wouldn't do that, just walk around the side. Again, all about control. |  |
