Wonderful at times, exhausting and infuriating at others. But, it’s Saturday, we won, the sun’s shining. COYB

Maybe Cook was right all along? It needed time and it needed Morsy.

Better a slow start with a strong middle and end than flying out of the blocks and falling flat on our faces (again).

The team is very settled now too which I think really helps. There’s only 2 or 3 spots up for grabs.
I’m keen to know from the boyos who went how Evans and Morsy got on.

Also, we have good cover for those spots, all of who have already had matchday experience this season.

Pleasing thing for me today was that we lost it for a bit but then came back strongly again in the second half.

That was good to see.

Progress.

Yep. I don’t go and I haven’t seen much of the recent games but purely on stats and outcomes this team has come together since the Bolton debacle.
Obviously people who have watched more than me will have their own views. But it looks like many more positives than negatives to this keyboard warrior.

Next couple are the real quiz for me. If we're doing anything this season, it's now we've got to start to move. String some wins together.

Performance today, fine, enough to deserve the win. We trip over our own feet even when we're comfortable and today could've gone Accringtony very quickly. But it didn't and that's a bonus.

Wide we're good, whoever is playing. Chaplin's great, but had to go wide to find the ball most of the time. We don't work it through the middle ever and I'm not sure why, beyond Evans' complete inability to play on the half-turn or between the lines (#FREE EL MIZ)

The next few games are very important. We have to start stringing wins together now, not winning every other game and sandwiching Accrington type performances in between. It's good to have won our last two home games but for context they've come against the current bottom 2 sides whose combined away record reads played 12, drawn 1, lost 11. Any side in the division would be expecting to win those kind of games at home.

We need to now show we can perform away from PR. The win at Lincoln was decent but we've lost our other 3 away games limply and our away record under Cook generally is utterly abysmal. We can't go up if we don't pick up points on the road and if we don't pick up back to back wins.

So a decent result today, not as comfortable as we'd like, but we'll take the three points and this time it simply has to be a platform for some back to back results.

That’s definitely valid. I think I’m right in saying at this stage last season we were sitting in the automatic promotion spots, and look how that ended up. Nothing is decided in October, but our slow start means we’ve got some catching up to do. Results wise at least we are starting to see a better yield of late, and 10 points from the past 5 games is good. I’m not convinced we’ve really got going performance wise yet but let’s see what the next few weeks brings. A few big games coming up, especially showing we can back this up with tricky games on the road.

I would like to see us on 30 points at the 20 game mark, from where we find ourselves. That should leave us somewhere around top 10 with plenty of games to make our charge on the top 6.

We didnt put on a master class, but the thing we did this game was start the second half strong, we need that to be the standard in the future. I might be quick to judge, but I liked this team more than one with Celina in it. I was never fully won over by him under MM, and I remain somewhat unconvinced.

Telling quote from PC at the presser - That's not football. That's a team that thinks it's done enough in the game and comes completely off the gas ........"We've put together a really talented group of players, without a doubt, but we've got a long, long way to go."

Despite everything that was said in the summer about bringing in the right kind of personality, we are mentally very fragile, conceding soft, early equalisers shows that. Let's hope that PC finds a way to instil that mental strength over the next few games to get this talented squad winning games more comfortably.

Agreed. 30 pts has to be the target by the end of November. There’s going to be a few points dropped in and amongst some of the season’s trickier away sides but we’ll be around that total I’m sure.

It’s a great interview, teams aren’t built on individuals, they’re built on a common ethos and drive

We are taking time to create that… is that Cooks fault ? In party perhaps but if we’re still winning while we build it who cares

The one thing today that slightly concerns is Frasers comment on preferring the number 8 roles and his performance…. He won’t take the number 10 from Celina and Edwards is the winger.. Evans is a deeper midfielder.

But I like Fraser and his vision and passing

A concern

Let’s go and spank Cambridge and purge ourselves of intermittent performances

I didn’t. We offered nothing through the middle with this team, I feel we do offer more through the middle with Celina. They knew this and double teamed us and we were so predictable and slow with the ball we couldn’t isolate there full backs that often.

Do you think that is team selection, of that Shrewsbury were setting up to be defensive/counter attacking? I don't really think we'd have seen much else for this game no matter who we played.

Some players are too good for this league and maybe they relax a bit too much when ahead?

We’re progressing, slowly, in fits and starts, in the right direction.

It’s what we all want (apart from Bluefish)

Statistically those three are still in the minority of our results, but yes green shoots as I said on Twitter earlier.

As I’ve stated many times, lets see where we are at the end of October. 15 games in 22+ pts and he will have shown he can address the issues we have all seen

They did their homework on us without Celina it goes down the wing. It was like the first 3/4 home games banks of 4 in front of us knowing we would not come through the middle.

What I did like was 2nd half we did control the game don’t think Hladky had to make a save!
