But I personally (based on the whispers in previous weeks he’d mentioned) before Cooks sacking, do not believe for a second we’d have made a decision this quickly.
From what I was told, the process would be one that could go on for four or five matches. Or at least near to Christmas. To have in the space of a week appointed Harris, the first really strong link, I don’t think it would have happened like that.
In my opinion, Saturday will still be McGreal as Interim and this time next week the rumour mill has someone else in. The combination of the bookies having him fav (means nothing on these markets unless he’s 1/25 which he isn’t) and that he’s applied for the role, and suddenly the whole of TWTD seemingly believes someone instantaneously that Harris is a done deal. I don’t believe it.
I’ll go out on a whim and say in 7 days time we still won’t have appointed anyone and when we do, it won’t be Harris. |  |

Also for what it’s worth, whilst on fees we didn’t spend too much, you’d be staggered at the average contract and wages half our new signings are on. Bloody bonkers money for League 1. I’ll be seeing him Saturday so I’ll find out who the main candidates are. If it is sorted before then, that’s a worry as the idea all along was that when a new manager got appointed, it would be a thorough, well thought out process over the course of weeks and not days to a point someone that the board unanimously liked with multiple candidates shortlisted and then interviewed before the final selection chosen. If they’ve done all that in this time, fair enough.
But realistically if someone is appointed this quickly, they’ve panicked and rushed it. Ashton took 6 weeks appointing someone at Bristol city and whilst that was longer than they’d wanted, that’s far more realistic from what id heard than 7 days. | |

Yes, as was widely reported at the time, Will Keane was on silly money when he came to us on loan. And when we gave him a one year deal we probably carried on paying silly money.
