Cover for Morsy?

Or competition for Penney?

My hot take is that he will play CM and Evans will drop back to play the middle CB as he did for Sheffield United [*].

SB

[*] I may not actually believe this.

I guess it seems like an interesting loan, because of where he'd play. I've got no knowledge of the player, but as a Bristol City player I'd assume Ashton has had a say in this loan.

I guess I'm expecting a utility player (do we even have them anymore?)

Colusen seems to be busted and back at Boro.

Penney has a question mark over him...although not from the manager as far we can see.

KVY has looked promising but his injury record is what it is.

Evans and Morsy have looked solid, but perhaps KMcK feels they need challenging or cover.

El Miz has always looked good, and offered pressure on the starters but maybe KMcK wants more?

With Carroll, Harper even Humphries we don't seem that short there.

Just interested to see how he fits.

To be honest, I thought apart from the corners last few games he's looked good and has benefited from the tactical switch KMcK has made with him and Morsy.

Why would a right footed CM be competition for LB/LBW?

Agree. Both Evans and Morsy have looked much more comfortable under McKenna

Is that true that he did that? He was talking about Sheffield United's back three recently and didn't mention he'd slipped back into the three.

He didnt, think its been misinterpreted in his recent interview.

He mentions dropping back into a back 3 but that was to cover for the overlapping CBs rather than a fixed starting position.

No idea. Don't see how he gets in ahead of Morsy/Evans, unless he's cover and we're going to see some exits.

I'd be more than happy to see this. His range of passing could be real asset from deeper.

Would you push Woolf out to right cb or keep JD?

I've seen corners mentioned as a negative but having watched the game back if anything his corners were good on the whole. One shocker that looped and floated out behind but other than that he hit them all well enough.

He's a classy player and moves the ball quickly, with a good range. In terms of passing ability we haven't had a midfielder as good arguably since Bullard.

I don’t understand the Evans criticism. I think largely he’s been good for us - and has formed a good partnership with Morsy.

Not according to this: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lee-evans/leistungsdaten/spieler/221446/plus/0?s

But maybe he meant just slipping back into those positions to cover during games rather than starting there.

I assume it might have been this. He's talking about Sheffield United playing the three rather than him specifically.

Lee Evans has been impressed but not surprised by the impact new manager Kieran McKenna has made since taking charge of Town late last month. 13

Doesn't say much for Harper. Similar age, same position.

I can't see Evans dropping out and obviously Morsy will play every game if fit.

He gives the ball away more than Morsy does, but typically he's playing the more forward and adventurous passes, so that'll always be the case.

I think we could see Fraser, Carroll and Nolan move on (if anyone will take the latter two), leaving Morsy, Evans, Harper, Bakinson and El Miz fighting for two spots.
