Coffee bags 14:21 - May 14 with 3188 viewsLord_Lucan

Champagne Socialist Artsbossbeard advises me that he has bought some coffee bags (like a teabag but with coffee in)

Has anyone seen or used these and what the hell is the point??

They advertise these on tv. I think they are individually wrapped and therefore fresher.

Thinking about it, it’s a wonder they’re only now hitting the market. Next up, hot chocolate bags.

What about the environment?

Tea bags are a massive problem.

Seeing how many things come wrapped in needless bits of plastic I don't think the problem is going to get better any time soon.

I think the point is they are used to make coffee, a hot or cold drink that does flavour trafficking to one's tongue.

I distinctly remember them from a long time ago, possibly even 1970s. But millennials like to think they invented them, and it's barely worth arguing. Oh.

That is absolute BS. The advert on tv is based around how no one had invented them. I'm sure you are right and they've been around a long time but the shot at millennials is just BS.

"haha millenials" is just a bit ol' trope at this point. Millennial barely even refers to our generation anymore.

I got some free when I got a kettle.

I will say, they make a really nice coffee and don't require any sort of cleanup so I can see the appeal.

I tried to tell me ex-neighbour T-bags were made of plastic but he wasn't having it.

He used to put them on everything in the garden.

I found one still intact out there two days ago and he moved out two and a half years ago.

I remember you being very unconcerned about littering fag ends. Change of heart? Or selective hearing?

There are a lot of brands of tea bags that don’t use glue so that they are fully biodegradable.

Do you remember those posh coffee machines in the 80s at work where you had your coffee or whatever in plastic cartridges? You’d tap the badly working screen. Slap in the cartridge (or visa versa) and watch the coffee dribble out like you were squeezing the cat.

As long as you chose ‘white’, all was well - as long as you liked your coffee strained through a tramps underpants.

Something I definitely need to make more effort on then.

They'll be a brand I dislike no doubt but shall try anyway.

That I found one whole the other day that must be a good three years old made me realise I need to rethink this myself.

The original tea bags started by accident, a dealer, think he was a yank sent samples out in little silk bags, people used them as we do tea bags because that's what they thought they were designed for, a happy accident.

Let's be honest though, tea is sh1te, how can anybody enjoy drinking that cr4p?

Frimleyesque downvotes incoming I expect.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Stopped drinking Tea about 30 years ago, and took up the coffee. Tea is what I have before bed.
And caffeine no longer has any effect on me.
