When will Starmer stop waffling and rip into this liar ?

One example being his blatant lie that taxing the EXCESSIVE profits of oil companies would stop them investing

"But when asked by the Times how much of this investment BP would ditch if it had to pay a windfall tax in the UK, the chief executive replied:
"There are none that we wouldn't do".

Starmer doesn't have any fire in his belly. He needs to act less like a QC and start going for the jugular in these encounters. The House of Commons ain't a courtroom.

A start would be if he walked over and tw.atted the fat fraud

Starmer is not the man for this job - today did not require a long winded analysis

just

"stop waffling you idle porker and sort this out "

"the country does not need idiot advice from your idiot Tory MPs, they need help - so sort it out, fatboy"

etc

Notwithstanding arguments about whether he's the right type of political leader for Labour, I think that's fair. He did best when he could connect with the public over the Tories repeatedly breaking lockdown laws while we were all making sacrifices. He nailed that speech as it was so emotionally charged.

He's a bit too clinical at other times isn't he. I saw the video of Miliband ripping into Johnson over NI recirculated yesterday. Chalk and cheese really.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

He just needs to be stronger in his messaging really. We may know what Labour's positions are on certain things but not sure how much, if any, of that is cutting through to the general public.

PMQs is political theatre and not taken too much notice of outside the bubble but those 5-10 sec clips on radio and telly can really make an impression if done well. If Blair or Cameron were in Starmer's shoes they'd have Johnson on toast.

The whole charade of PMQs is cringeworthy. Not even the slightest token attempt to answer any questions. A spineless speaker who never instructs Johnson to answer the question and a crowd of braying infants who clear off as soon as it’s over. It’s a pity that at least 500 of them can’t be let go.

Not so much him being leader, more at the dipatch box.

It should be a clear and simple message, repeated over and over

"Cut the waffle and cut the bills

Cut the bull. and get one with cutting the bills"

"As a young boy I had an action man, as a man I am faced with a no action man - when is he going to cut the bills ?"

Three words 'cut the bills'

Bulletproof Boris - made possible by the Great British Voting Public on the promise he'd get Brexit done. Turns out he didn't get it done at all and we're causing a wonderful mess with one of our union members.

But hey ho, at least Corbyn didn't get in- or something

If he's going to go for a low blow I'd much prefer something like 'and what about the future of our 7 million children, half of which appear to be yours'.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, unless Labour sort out their leadership then things will be a lot closer than they really should be come the next GE. Personally, I feel I just can’t invest in Starmer.

You must have been watching a different PMQ's to me then.

After slowly gaining the advantage, Starmer absolutely took Johnson apart at the end.

OK, it was a bit different from "I have a letter from a lady called Janice". But it was clever, effective and on point.

I agree, but I think that's in part Starmers problems.

His takedowns of Johnson, when he lands them, are often measured, clever and succinct.

But people who voted for the Tories, even when they have directly impacted their own lives negatively, haven't done so off the basis of measured, clever and succinct. It's been off the back of lies, boasts, funny put downs and 'saying it like it is'.

We live amongst an electorate where the type of people Starmer now needs onside would probably respond better to him just calling Boris a bit fat bag of jelly, because they'd actually understand it.

It's no good Starmer being clever when those people stupid enough to fall for Boris' lies aren't clever enough to decipher Starmer's takedown.

Starmer is pretty much a void where political ideas and principles are concerned.

He's little more than a barrister trying to "win" on technical merits. In other words, ripe to be outflanked in the pure political terms that ultimately matter.

the few that watch PMQs are probably all ready 'set in their ways'

Johnsons rants away, making sht up as he goes - for all the world as if him and Gove are friends with 'Charlie' - Starmers words get lost among the idiotic bellowing off Johnson.

Starmer just needs to stick with one simple message

"stop the bull, cut the bills"

When the bloater wheezes to his feet, Starmer needs to pause when gutbucket has finished, stand at the dispatch box for another couple of seconds

"Have you finished ? When are you going to cut energy he bills .................. that's all" and sit diwm

next time, contemptuously

"yeah yeah, we've heard all that nonsense before, now when are you going to help voters who are really struggling ? "

and keep to it, not get drawn into replying to the walrus of waffle, or any long analysis

Yes, if you go digging you can find what they think and want. It's on their website buried over several pages and it was in his 1,500 word essay. There's nothing like a 1,500 word essay for not capturing the public's attention! Three word slogans seem to be the limit for many.
