While short of a loss, that's not a good result for Johnson.

That's a big kick in the face.

They were saying the whips were hoping to keep it below 100 and worse case would be 135.

He should step down given that result. By no stretch of the imagination could he count that as a resounding endorsement.

However, we are talking about Boris so he'll stumble on regardless.

His supporters had a calculation of how many dissenters there would be.
However, they seem to be complaining that their figures were slightly out because it seems some MP's lied about what their vote would be.
Tories lying seems to bother Boris' people.
Go figure.

The rebels were never going to dislodge him; part of me wonders why they didn't wait for the by election and they may have got an extra 30 to vote against him.

And 211 of the Tory MPs continue to support him.

He has been enabled by the Conservative Party. He continues to be enabled by that party.

The party is corrupt and unfit for Government. It is not just Johnson. Don't be fooled into thinking that is on Johnson. It is on the Conservative Party.

When gutbucket wheezes to his feet next in the Commons he will know that there are more Labour supporters, than Tories who support him

He will also know that only around a third of those MPs want him as PM. 440 MPs want him gone.

There is now the two by elections to come. Ones in which voters will make their thoughts known. This will stretch through to the summer recess, as one thing is well known. He has an unerring knack of misjudgement, and getting it wrong.

To expect those wanting him out, to back him in Parliament is wishful thinking of the highest order. It requires 80, of the 148 to abstain, or 40 to vote against.

The job is now to find the next leader/PM. Meanwhile, the tumbril has stopped and is now being unloaded.

This vote of confidence(VOC) has solved nothing.
It's drawn the battle lines, that's all.
For Bozo this VOC should put an end to all plotting and we should get behind him and help him solve the problems that face the nation.
For everyone else, solving the nations problems is not going to save their seats at the next GE so they will continue to plot.
