Kemi Badenoch - MP for Saffron Walden 12:09 - Jul 19 with 3587 views | BonneNIL | Easily the most far-right political candidate in my lifetime, and soon to be our Prime Minister as she's leaps ahead with their Members. Worked for Boris Johnson after leaving Uni, hacked a Labour website, then claimed not to have, was co-opted onto London Council without an election, then given the Saffron Walden seat after the previous MP was kicked out due to being old. The ultimate careerist as well as populist. Guido Fawkes loves her. She claims to have thrown her own husband off of the Parliamentary candidate's list to maintain standards but green-lit the sex-offender Wakefield MP while running Party HQ. How bad is her husband then? Maybe when she was approving members, she had allowed the Britain First mob to be filtered in as potential supporters? I remember Tommy Robinson claiming to have joined after Boris was made leader... it stinks. The Conservative Party is now right of UKIP. She was recently caught out claiming to be in the constituency canvassing for the support of Boris Johnson, but was in fact at home in Wimbledon, once this was found out she had all the social media comments deleted. Her Association has approved of her living in London, when local residents have asked for support on local issues, they have said she's not the Citizens Advice and doesn't have to respond. Even as a candidate for Prime Minister, she is already saying she expects her cabinet to do her work for her. Told her selection meeting she voted Leave, but tells others her and her husband voted Remain in London. So which is true? Although she is popular in the south of her constituency which is closer to Braintree and Chelmsford than Saffron Walden, her local Tory Councillors have all been wiped out by Lib-Dems and Residents groups she does so little for her party there. She is by far the most dangerous UK politician in our lifetime, I would urge everyone to write to their Tory MP and tell them NOT to back her. Although I have a feeling Tom Hunt will be backing her hard. [Post edited 19 Jul 2022 12:23]

How many of those are UK based? Are you not scared by this politician running our country? I know we have had say the BNP before, but they were never going to get elected. This person could be our Prime Minister without an election. [Post edited 19 Jul 2022 12:24]

Or ever, I am genuinely worried about her, more than the others, people may see me as over dramatic but I think she's a very dangerous person.

I’m not sure that I’ve ever interacted with you have I? I’m not a Tory member (never have been, never will be) so I’m certainly not backing her. It just seemed like a bit of an over the top polemic against her when I’d say it is fairly evident that there are others who are far worse politicians on all sides of the house. You see a bit tetchy - first signs of the heat getting to the TWTD team. PS - and saying something you don’t agree with isn’t attacking you! Just saying. [Post edited 19 Jul 2022 12:28]

I am warming* to Sunak, insofar as I look at the rest and all I can do is scream JESUS H CHRIST into the void. He might be the most viable caretaker for the economy out of the lot, in spite of his misgivings. *When I say warming, I really mean to the extent that an iceberg warms over a fecking bunsen burner.

Kemi Badenoch - MP for Saffron Walden on 13:18 - Jul 19 with 1877 views | soupytwist | I can't comment on the accuracy of everything you wrote there but the decimation of Tory councillors in the Saffron Walden/Uttlesford area is AFAIK more about the prospect of large scale housing development in the area, which the Tories are largely thought to be in favour of. Now that the garden village developments are pretty much off the table I wonder how much of a long-term future the independents/residents group councillors have. If they can prove themselves to be effective they may well hang on. Doesn't mean that it won't be a Tory seat at parliament for the foreseeable though. There are a few independents on Braintree council and it looks like the next logical step for Canvey Island in the south of the county is to start campaigning for independence such is the level of non mainstream party support there. Interesting times in Essex local politics, and not always benign. Oh, and Badenoch as PM? Utter disaster.

http://ciip.org.uk/ They aren't quite as far along the route for Independence as the SNP but maybe Scots' Independence will just be the first domino.

When you watch the debates you remember he is actually quite good at this politics lark, is a good speaker, with a clear message and gets them across well. He's also been there in the treasury whilst this tough couple of years has gone on, he knows how tough things will be and whilst all of them claim to love Maggie he is seemingly the only one who understands what Thatcherite politics is.......there's no way Thatcher would be borrowing money to make tax cuts, it's foolish - she'd be (like Sunak is saying) trying to keep inflation in check and getting the finances on the straight and narrow first. He's far and away the best person for the job out of those in final 4, the others are absolute lightweights

The iceberg analogy is a good one. He is appearing the best of a very very very bad bunch. That being said, I will not get over how he was complicit in letting Johnson run riot. He was the chancellor. If he would have spoke up earlier, then some damage may not have been done. But he didnt. Also the non dom stuff and the countless other shenanigans doesnt help. So as you say he does come across the best, probably says more about the others than him.

Now I guess (hopefully) we’ve got the worst PM we’ve never had.
