Was thinking the same Sky don't give their content away to other providers so quite a chunk of sports channels missing there for starters

You can buy Fire Sticks which have been sideloaded with all the channels from Sky and iFollow etc without the need to pay the subscription fees. Hence 75 GBP for the year. It's highly illegal, literally stealing money from the club (one for FrimleyMakin there) and proves him to be the kind of intelligent person who writes on bedsheets by posting that on a public platform. Agreed. It's funny how many people have their morals on a piece of elastic when it comes to Sky.

Yeah a lot of people have been doing that for a long time, accessing sky sports, BT sport, iFollow etc with an Amazon fire stick. I think it’s going to be harder to do in the future, and as you say it’s illegal.

Are you suggesting that wanting something you can't afford makes stealing ok? There's are many things I would like but don't want to pay for. Unfortunately that means not having those things.

I'm not sure I regard it as theft to watch your football team when the alternative is unaffordable. You are just buying a cheaper option and would otherwise not be paying for the alternative. In other words either way Sky/BT still get nothing. Wouldn't buy a stolen physical item but I have no moral dilemmas over this example. Edit....also the people that can do this stuff are bloody amazing technically and there customer service is exemplary....so I hear. [Post edited 23 Jul 2022 12:09]

I’ve done it myself before when I was a poor student and it’s relatively simple to do, effectively what the fire stick ends up being is just a directory to loads of different streams but can have quite a nice display on it that makes it very easy to find stuff and slick to use. The problem is that with all of these illegal streaming sites (other than them being illegal!) is that they often get shutdown quite regularly and so there is a fair bit of work to make sure that the links are pointing at the right place (hence the subscription I guess, but I got bored of doing it myself).

Testers has a point though. I something cannot believe how little you know about anything judging by some of the threads that you start / comment on. Seems like you are successful in your field of work as well which makes it even more astounding.

This is not the same as receiving stolen goods though. In that scenario, someone has been deprived of a physical asset, but this is a digital copy which can be reproduced as many times as required. As I understand it, the people committing the illegal act are those providing the service, facilitating access to the streams and bypassing the terms and conditions of the broadcaster. A consumer of the service would not go to court or even be fined, unless they were sharing with others - e.g. showing the game in a pub. There is a moral case that could be made, for or against depriving a billionaire or faceless shareholders of a few quid…. And there is a moral case to be made for taking profit out of the system for the benefit of all. Is the Premier League and UK football better off for the sky billions? Or does an unacceptable chunk of the money filter down into players salaries, and then onto the local flash car dealer or poncey bar? ITFC suffered thanks to ITV Digital, so maybe I hold a grudge. I pay my way but don’t begrudge those who don’t. You may get a better service by paying, but that doesn’t always apply to iFollow! At least the club are seeing some of that profit.

This is a steaming service and an illegal way to use it. I hardly think that's something which would be common knowledge, unless you move in criminal circles or spend all your time on twitter. How did you find out about it out of interest? BTW in most of my question-threads I do already know, I'm just looking for other opinions/options I may have missed. Regardless, it's still a nasty thing to say and I guarantee he wouldn't say it to my face.
