And Ladapo does not look like the goalscorer we were hoping for.

Even though we scored two today, arguably three, we could defnitely do with a striker who knows where the back of the net is.

John-Jules looked promising last week so, naturally, we moved him to the left and benched Harness to shoehorn Ladapo in.

Still think he's one where he scores 1 and it'll open the gates. Just lacks a bit of composure.

Pretty important trait for a striker. Not seeing any evidence that the flood gates will open based on the number of chances he’s had at all but we shall see.

Hopefully he'll come good. He didn't seem on the same wavelength as the rest today though.

How did he play otherwise? Did he occupy their defenders well? Did he hold the ball up well & bring others into play? Did he create space with his movement to allow chances / goals for others?

Did he have any glaring opportunities like he has in previous games?

I haven't seen the game today, but even when Bonne's goals dried up I said that in McKenna's system the main striker's primary role might not be to put the ball in the net.

I'll be far more worried when we stop creating & scoring goals from Morsy & the wide forwards. 'Til then I think Ladapo has had OK returns elsewhere and will come good here too, just needs to get the monkey off his back.

When a game moves into a phase that we saw in the last 10-15 minutes when we had all of the possession and numerous opportunities to cross where 15 players are parked, then you need a bit of natural aerial dominance, strikers that don't necessarily need be on the move to win a header. We don't have one such forward player.

We did. But he's on loan to the team at the top of the table.
Ladapo always played in a 2 up at Rotherham. He was never the focal point.
Like Bonne he never really played after the new year last season either. All his goals came in half a season too.

Sorry to say Ladapo’s game was non existent today. He did none of the above. He plodded about looking like Lukaku at the height of not giving a skit at Chelsea last season. Must be one of McKenna’s best mates based on what I’ve seen from all the games this season.

He had one chance in the second half wjich oy looked like he fluffed, but I was at the other end so didnt have the best view.

I didn't think he contributed a great deal otherwise, not entirely down to him as some of his movement was OK and he found little spaces for himself occasionally, only for the midfield to play it across the pitch rather than to him.

He will have better games and I really hope he does open the goal floodgate soon.

Can you see a pattern developing where McKenna can stop any striker scoring?

To be fair to Lapado he’s never been prolific - even in an all conquering Rotherham side he only got 13 last season - which he can still match by getting floodgate- busting one goal every three games.

I had that conversation with the chap that sits next to me. I’m not sure it’s always him though, it is also those around him not picking the pass to feet or choosing the moment for the ball over the top or players knowing he’s made the run but their ball doesn’t quite make it to him.

From what I’ve seen he looks more dangerous than others that have tried and failed but we need to be quicker picking him out in open play or happy to put more crosses in the box to create the chaos moments he will feed on. With the crosses, we seem to do less of this until it’s when we’ve backed the opposition defence to the 18 yard line then the ball goes in as a last resort rather than allowing the striker to isolate a defender and get across to the ball from a counter.

To me it’s our style not quite bringing the best out of strikers it seems.

Great win for Norwich though. Despite my dislike of Smith (he likes to spit on the ground too - disgusting), I thought you looked really solid at the end of the game. You must be well content.

They were getting absolutely rogered, and relying on the woodwork to keep them level, then got a lucky break and managed to cling on to it. Sunderland will be fuming.

I don't think he's said anything that's not correct. In this system, the striker isn't scoring goals. It was the same with all our strikers last season.
