Bart 19:26 - Oct 5 with 3745 viewsWestover

I noticed on Saturday that Bart was on the bench for Millwall and he is again tonight, hopefully just a dip in form and he will soon get his chance again.

I don't, so add me to the list.

I wish him no ill, but equally I don't remotely follow his career now.

He’d started approx 150 consecutive games and been POTY a couple of times, a couple of Millwall mates have suggested that Rowett in final throes of his reign and is just throwing a few bits around in hope something comes off

Walton he's the best keeper we have had in a long time but Bart did not let Town down and loved his time here, I believe still has his house in the area and is a top bloke.

I think Walton but it’s a hard hard choice and not even a cigarette paper between them. Bart is possibly just slightly the better shot stopper while I think Walton is better at commanding his area.

People are perfectly entitled to take an interest in a former Town player who served us well, picked up multiple POTS awards, lives in the area and has spoken so fondly of Ipswich since his departure.

Don't blame you for not being interested but don't be surprised (or rude) when others are.

It may be a bit sad, but I take a bit of pride in players who've gone on to better things such as Dozzell, Downes, Cresswell, Mings, Bart. I also don't get the hostility against former players. There were a few boos when Lankaster came on on Tuesday which I just don't understand.

I think Walton's streets ahead of Bart personally.

It's hard to say because Bart was far busier than Walton, Walton has matches where he doesn't have a challenging save to make (not a criticism)

Bart was a ridiculous shot stopper, almost every game he did something utterly ridiculous.

Nothing sad about it all.

All the 'who cares' stuff is sad, however.

Bart was also playing at a higher level. Walton is great, really rate him but we shouldn't forget how good Bart was for us. We picked him up for peanuts and he saved us countless times. There were very few occasions where he let us down, not to mention the fact he seemed a really top bloke. His family are still in Ipswich I think and still has his place there, I can see him moving back to the area properly when he hangs up his gloves.

At a similar age to Walton will be next season Bart was about to embark on 8 or 9 years as consistent #1 in the Championship. Let's hope Walton betters that with us...

Absolutely with you on that but can’t say I care if they’ve been benched for a game here and there, that’s all.

Did jump ship as soon as the going got tough tbf.

But no, I like to keep an eye on former players and like to see them do well but this is just random.

Agree with all of this.

Bart and Tom Lawrence had a two-man player of the season off in 16/17. Literally carried us.

If it hadn't been for them we would have been relegated that season. They both would save us on their own as we finished only 4 points from the drop.

I want players who put in the effort here to do well. Dont like booing ex players who put in the time and effort when here. But this is a pretty odd OP.

BTW, who's Lankaster?

Sorry, wrong spelling. I meant (Jack) Lankester, who joined Cambridge as part of the Cook clear-out.

Yer Walton much better all round keeper Bart was a great shot stopper but suspect at crosses and general judgement on when to play the keeper sweeper bit plus Waltons kicking is much better . But make no mistake we all loved Bart and i wish him the best .

I didn't think that Walton was that comfortable on the ball or good with his kicking last season but this season it has definitely improved. Clearly this is what is expected of modern keepers, and McK has had him work on it.

Yes most players that want to Improve their game will work at their weaknesses I'm sure keepers are no different. It seems that we now have a team of coaches that are helping our players improve their game . The feel good factor around the club must be a big help .
