New Head of Operations 12:28 - Oct 6 with 2057 views | chicoazul | The club really does have an enormous staff now, the back office and C level wage bill must be amazing compared to 18 months ago. Pouring one out for Lee O’Neill today.

New Head of Operations on 12:32 - Oct 6 with 2001 views | Dubtractor | It would be genuinely interesting to see our spend and income budgets now. Clearly we are spending a lot more, but then our income must be through the roof compared to the last 10 years. Crowds are huge and merch sales are booming.

New Head of Operations on 12:34 - Oct 6 with 1998 views | N2_Blue | In hindsight, one really does have to feel sorry for Lee O'Neil. He was doing the job of about 5 C-level positions, which is nuts really - and probably for a pittance compared to what is being paid now judging by the caliber of individuals we have appointed.

I’ve said to you before and I’ll say it again. It feels wrong! I don’t like this ruthless efficiency, the easy crushing of banana skin teams. The professionalism and relentless focus. I’ve been brainwashed by the Banter Era.

I’m thinking 4/10. Drops a couple points for the typo and also the inclusion of LOL at the end

I always scratched my head at how short sighted the previous regime was when you consider the split between on field and off field investment. If you get the right people in the right roles off the pitch, there's a case that they can more than pay for themselves. L O'N had a thankless task and wasn't given the tools to do his job, but look at what a bit of investment can do to revenues. Obviously results and the nature of the football helps too, but we can't underestimate the impact of some of the initiatives. The commercial deal with Ed Sheeran for example, look at the impact on shirt sales. You have to speculate to accumulate sometimes. That's not to mention fitness and conditioning. What the feck is the point in paying Norwood £300k a year if you can't invest in a couple of people to help get him on the pitch. When you think of all that money spent on players that were never fit, while your only recognised conditioning personnel was wfh in Scotland due to falling out with Lambert / Taylor. Then we wonder why players like Keane and Downes move on and stay fit. Even within the same budget we would've been much better off trimming cost out of our playing squad and investing it in a proper structure to support those left. PL was spot on about infrastructure, it was so short sighted. Damaging corner cutting throughout and Evans got what he deserved.

I have to admit I had my eyes opened under this regime. I wasn't a fan of Evans but appreciated the money he put into the club to keep it running, however as you say, the decisions made no sense whatsoever and what was the point of still investing in the squad, (we had huge numbers, so may loans etc) if you are not going to invest anywhere else to try and get the best out of them. It makes no sense. And expecting to run a football club with no structure off the field was a recipe for disaster. I think i was a bit naïve to this as football is such a different type of business, but to be run successfully is still clearly needs strategy, vison and multiple leadership roles all completing lacking under ME. I though Lambert was so bitter and downbeat and that really annoyed me after his initial positive PR work. Obviously his management failings became apparent (and he was a poor manager here) but I can also now appreciate why he was so frustrated and became so disillusioned. It must have been an almost impossible club /owner to work for. McCarthy managed it so well, and liked the challenge of finding players such as Mings & Moore, but i think once the fans turned he wanted to give up because he knew there was no way of winning them round or moving forward being so hamstrung and having an owner so short-sighted.

If you remember our Chairman stated that Ashton had asked for X non footballing on 16:23 - Oct 6 with 1402 views | unstableblue | … staff and he’s been given around half that Perhaps the on field success has allowed our CEO to get another of his target structure To be honest I don’t understand what this new person is responsible for And personally I’d rather all monies were on the footballing side right now Building an off field for premiership should fully start once we’re playing in the league above But what do I know! Looking back it is strange to think that some people disagreed when we were calling for greater infrastructure. Obviously I never imagined something as structured as this, but just highlights the push back even more.

Evans was a disaster. Evans cost himself a lot of the money he put in by wanting everything to go through him. A CEO and 1-2 others would have paid for themselves and saved him money. I wish Evans no ill will but I hope he never comes back to PR.

And get some still inexplicable defend Evans. A throughly useless owner who took the club back decades.
New Head of Operations on 19:39 - Oct 6 with 1029 views | fabian_illness | Having a new Head of Operations is fantastic for the club. Now if anyone needs their tonsils out, gets a hernia or has a nasty ingrown toenail, we've got it covered. The NHS is stretched enough without having to operate on footballers.
