I've always considered Javid one of the 'less bad' ones of the current crop - I obviously disagree with a lot of his politics, but he doesn't come across as a absolute turd of a human being like a number of the others.

Maybe.... he has form for valiantly rushing in then beating a hasty retreat

Poor deluded lamb is still harbouring his Churchillian fantasies of sweeping into No 10 to rescue the nation....so he will want to keep a seat in HoC, thus providing a good chance of a Portillo

There will be at least 200 Tories standing down at the next election. Only difference is that some are trying to spare some embarrassment by announcing it now rather than after the count.

One of the less known facts is that the candidates know the result before they step out to hear the declaration.

I do remember the odious David Mellors ejection, when Goldsmith led a chant of 'out out out'.

I expect, after last nights by election result there will be a fair few who may not announce their departure now but will duck out before any GE.

Labour increased their share by 20% and the Tory vote fell by almost a half

it's alright Boris is standing again.

An MP who when he's not in the big jobs doesn't do anything for the people who elected him.

Nice gravy train before a re run at premiership i suspect.

The problem there is no seat will be thought a safe one, once the bloater has wheezed into town.

The massive swings against the Tories in three former safe seats were an indication of how Tory voters regard him.

And up till when Truss tried implementing brexit policies he was the most unpopular PM since records began ie lowest approval rating.

He is yesterday's man.

He's a liar, remember. They've been asked to make a statement. He's made a statement that avoids being labelled a quitter.

Tomorrow's a different world to him.

Be fair, when he's in a big job he does f**k all for the people he represents. Ask Nazanin Zaghiri-Ratcliffe.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

If it is Johnson you are talking about, then I very much doubt.

There would be no benefit to any company associating with such a corrupt individual, and his previous jobs suggest his incompetence and laziness would be of no use.

Perhaps they could manufacture one of those old time laughing sailors that used to be found in seaside amusement arcades.

Having him rolling about, talking absolute bollox.
