Very limited on the ball, not great defensively and seemed unable to take a throw in without it being a foul throw.
Slightly harsh to blame him for the play-off semi at Upton Park though as Royle played him when he was clearly unfit as not recovered from an injury. |  |

He was a very limited player but I think he knew that as well. Always gave 100% and he was, by all accounts quite a friendly chap off the pitch.
I will say, that for all the posters saying that he was limited (including me), he played for us whilst a top half championship side - a promotion chasing one at that. A much higher standard than what we have now. [Post edited 31 Jan 2023 11:35]

I think that at least partially reflects Joe Royle's attitude to defenders, he was more than happy to push Gardsoe out and play Diallo and Santos. Whilst de Vos was generally good until he lost all mobility we really weren't very good at the back. | |
