One of many problems with football for me is the focus on punishing the offender and not compensating the team that were wronged. Sheff Wed should have been down to 10 men for over 70 minutes, any suspension now will benefit other teams, including looking at their upcoming fixtures possibly Bolton and Peterborough |  |

They are if they contest it or appeal the decision aren't they (otherwise they are being punished regardless of whether they are guilty). There are some more serious offences that they do seem to be suspended pending charges, though, I think.
Normally the charge is brought much more quickly for this reason. I am surprised they didn't bring it sooner. Contesting it brings a longer suspension if still found guilty and believed to be frivolous too. | |

Being pedantic Sheff Wed didn't cheat though it was the officials cheating us. Why wouldn't you take it when you get lucky with a clear offside like that. Now the question comes did the intimidation of the linesman with the coin throwing etc influence his decision not to flag for offside. Only one person knows and will take it to his grave. | | | |
