| Is there such a thing as a plug bank that's rechargeable? 13:39 - May 11 with 5911 views | The_Flashing_Smile | (i.e. doesn't need to be plugged into the mains, other than when you charge it up). I don't mean a phone power pack, I want something I can charge up and then plug regular plugs into it. Can't seem to find what I'm after so far. There's camping power banks but they're a bit big/expensive. As the subject title says, I just want something that's essentially a plug bank that you can charge up and then use when it's not plugged into the mains. | |

Bit pricey and doesn't seem to last that long.

Initially a light in the attic where we don't have plug sockets, maybe laptop too (although that has a good battery life at the moment as it's fairly new). But also something I could take into the garden and plug a drill into, for example. Just would be handy as we live on the first floor so not practical to trail cables.

I like the idea Flashers, can't say I've ever seen one but you should bring it out. I'm no expert but I imagine the issue is the battery life / length. I like the idea in the garden for electric tools though, I'm forever running extension leads out of my kitchen window and down the garden to use things.

Battery capacity is OK, but it's extremely heavy and takes a Long time to charge it to capacity in the first place. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I should go on Dragon's Den! You'd have thought something like that exists though. There's a million battery packs for mobile phones, but like you say, this would be handy for everything else.

This reminds me of when I had my brilliant idea of a phone cover with a built in battery.

Yeah they look good J2, although still a bit pricey. But cheers. I like the "frequently bought together" section on the first one - A 'Jesus Christ Is Lord' neon sign!

Bit big/expensive. But yeah, essentially that but smaller and cheaper!

Batteries aren't really that cheap for something that has a decent life and can be used for a while, unfortunately. There is probably a no brand that does similar if I were to hunt about. Powerbank with AC outlet seems to throw up plenty of options.

For a loft light, you could go for something like this. https://www.wickes.co.uk/Loftleg-Easy-to-Install-Loft-Light/p/143352 As regards, tools, you can get plenty of rechargeable battery powered ones these days, and often the battery will cover more than one type of tool, if you buy the same make. The same is true of garden tools. I have a Bosch strimmer and leaf blower, both operated by the same battery. But this may be too expensive, especially if you have to replace tools. Yeah I don't want to fork out for more tools. Do you see what I did there?

A fork is a utensil, not a tool.

Point of order. A tool is an item of practical use.

Mains powered tools are designed to run off 240 v a/c Trying to run from a battery power supply tools that are designed to be run on 240v ac is unlikely to be efficient!
