IPTV seems a bit too good to be true. Is it actually legal and not dodgy from a security point of view, and can you recommend one?

This one, for example, offers a 15 day trial for £8.99.

From what I've understood it's depends on where you get the service from.

A friend of mine has a cracked fire stick, he pays £50 a year for one server or £80 for two servers (im case the first one stops working) and with that he gets everything. All the sports, all the sky channels, the latest films, box sets etc. It's pretty amazing considering he was paying £80 a month for just sky.

Is it legal? Not a chance in hell. However he doesn't mind. I've been fortunate to be have seen a few town games when I've been over there on a Saturday afternoon or mid week.

How long the service lasts is unknown j guess, two years in and he still gets it.

The service in that link looks like it's overpriced and because it's so public it's quite likely to get shut down. The best IPTV services seems to be the underground ones where you need to know somebody who knows somebody

Oh and before somebody asks, I have no idea where he gets the service from.

As a rule of thumb, it’s illegal if you’re accessing a broadcast without permission from the broadcaster. So anything on Sky, etc., is illegal. They’re going after people who sell cheap football ‘passes’, and those face heavy fines or jail sentences for piracy (I always wanted to be a pirate as a kid!). I don’t know whether they’re targeting customers.

In short, buyer beware.

I just don't understand why it can't be streamed. It might be just me but if I can't watch it, I really devalues the competition for me.

100%. They should strike a deal with clubs and iFollow, etc. I suppose they’re worried about attendances, but it’d be interesting to see the evidence that streaming has any impact.

Madness, isn’t it? In an era where pretty much any professional game from any country is available to stream one way or another, very very strange the EFL haven’t figured out a way of making their cup competition available.

It’s all very odd. The club site says this:

“Competition rules mean this game is unavailable for television broadcast.”

They might just as well say competition rules mean we want to limit exposure as much as possible and force fans to hate this stupid trophy more than they already do.

My general view is if you're paying to pirate content you are doing it wrong. Even taking away the ethics/legality of pirating content, you are still paying criminals to fund God knows what. Not something I'd particularly want weighing on my conscience, but ymmv.

It's not legal, although the consequences are likely more on the provider than the user:

In legal definition, NETFLIX etc are also IPTV providers and therefore IPTV per se is legal - caveat - as long as the service provider has all the correct licensing and copyright agreements.

IPTV as we are referring to here is NOT LEGAL.

If you use an IPTV provider that is available downloaded onto a Firestick that you bought of FB then you would notice that the premier league games are mostly from BEIN and I know for a fact they have not agreed for their service to be broadcast, not least that their contract with the EPL forbids it.

This will be because the EFL will have sold the TV rights for the League Cup & hence they need to protect the rights holder. With teams like Wolves, Spurs, Chelsea & Everton in 2nd round action, those rights will have some value & the way that the TV rights & sponsorship income is distributed throughout the EFL is the only real justification for continuing this competition.
