The Qatar World Cup was moved because of the extreme heat in the Persian Gulf. Having summer temperatures just shy of those in North America — often along with ridiculous humidity — *should* create the same level of concern for player and fan safety.

The science on this has been utterly settled for 2 decades now, yet we still have this motivated reasoning. It's basically, "I don't want to have to do anything about this, so it can't be true".
When an issue is so pervasively huge people can’t fathom the intangible consequences, let alone the globally life changing requirements necessary to change the course of the future. For many the impotence this invokes results in anger at those who make them think about the topic. The lower end of discomfort on that anger scale is to deny there is an issue and blinker themselves, with the next step up being to vocally blame those talking about the problem as if it’s the talking about it which is what’s making them angry.

When have FIFA shown any concern other than filling their pockets. They don’t give a crap about the welfare of players. Be happy to see the WC binned off to be honest whilst FIFA are happy to take money from Russia, Qatar, and Argentinain Junta etc.
I’m just waiting for the next tournament to be in Iran, China, or North Korea.

And who doesn't have the ability to even look out of their own window and note how even in our lifetime, the climate has changed for the worse. Or watch the news and see what is happening elsewhere in the world.
